Inspirational Ceremonies

Feeling the love at Tarn Hows today - a perfect location for an intimate wedding ceremony. Although it's a popular place - I know just the spot, not far from the path, right by the water's edge and very peaceful and quiet!

I have been so fortunate this year to be able to get out and about in the Lake District and conduct weddings in some beautiful outdoor settings including three in the heart of the fells! This afternoon I was at Tarn Hows where I know a perfect spot for an intimate ceremony - just off the beaten track but so peaceful and quiet!

Love this picture - certainly the best picture of the world cup. When a man needs his women - when your team has just got knocked out of the semi-finals!

When I ask couples what's their favourite memory from their wedding ceremony - it's usually saying their vows to one another. What's special about a humanist wedding ceremony is you get to write your own (with a little bit of help if you wish) This picture of Daneika and Chris reflects that special moment so beautifully and we were all definitely left feeling the love! Feel so lucky to have my lovely garden room to work in - very peaceful and love my new flowers and plants! Harmony seems to like it too!

Well after a week of glorious sunshine I knew the rain was on its way. Luckily it held off just long enough for me to marry the gorgeous Mr and Mrs Fowler at an outdoor ceremony near Wigton. There was lots of laughter and a few tears with both of their mums joining in to help with a simple handfasting ceremony. Hope you guys share lots more fun and travelling adventures together xxx

Iain and Tracy have enjoyed walking in the Lakes over the years. One of their favourite places is Easedale Tarn - so when they were thinking of celebrating their 25th Wedding Anniversary it felt like the perfect spot! On Tuesday I conducted a Vow Renewal Ceremony for them right by the water's edge. The weather was beautiful - bright sunshine and not a waterproof in sight! Congratulations guys - heres to the next 25 years and more!

Now that's how to make your entrance on your wedding day! I have had brides arrive by horse, tractor and by boat, but never by balloons!

What is so special about a humanist wedding that as well as been written just for you, it can be personalised how you wish.
It was important to Michael and Alissa that Michael's children played a big role in their ceremony and as well as reading a poem together they helped with a simple handfasting ceremony, were witneses on a wedding certificate and presented their dad and Alissa with their rings. I think my favourite moment was watching Connor proudly escourt his sister, Bridget, down the aisle!

Wow - what a day I had yesterday conducting two very special weddings here in the Lakes. I started with a mountain top ceremony on Silver Howe near Grasmere in the morning and finished the day with this lovely lot at Storrs Hall on the shores of Windermere. Both ceremonies were very intimate and the words shared were so heartfelt - I was definitely left feeling the love!

So sad - but lovely to read that family and friends think Dale would have approved of his send off. Each humanist ceremony is individually written to reflect the people involved, whilst being inclusive and respective to all.

Look where I was yesterday - in the fells above Grasmere conducting a Vow Renewal Ceremony for Iain and Tracey. Weather couldn't have been better and another fell top ceremony tomorrow. Lucky me!

As a nation we aren't good at talking about grief but we are getting better and the more we do the easier it will be.

One of the things that is very special about a Naming Ceremony is that you get the opportunity to express the significance of a child's names - such as why they were chosen and if they have any special meaning.
With news fresh from the palace that William and Kate's second son has been born any guesses what his first name will be?

I had a great start to this year's wedding season on Saturday at the Carus Green Golf Club in Kendal. My first time at the venue and I was blown away with the setting and the fantastic views of the fells. Big congratulations to Joe and Sarah - they were so relaxed and just smiled the whole way through! xx
