Christmas should be a time to relax and spend time with our loved ones, but often the stress of making Christmas “perfect” or trying to get on with our families can turn it into a dreaded experience.
Here are some great ways to keep the stress down this year to help you have a happy, relaxing, calm Christmas:
Tip 3: Keep moving
... Keeping up your regular exercise routine can give you the fitness and stamina to make it through the demands of the festive season.
Exercise also ensures a good steady flow of serotonin helping to keep you happy and positive regardless of the chaos going on around you!

Still time to get a Christmas present for the one you love! How about giving the gift of a good nights sleep? A gift voucher from Inspired to Change could be the turning point for that special someone.

It’s just a few weeks now until the big day and the Christmas rush has already started!
Rushing to do the present shopping; the present posting; the big supermarket shop; to drop kids off at their Christmas parties; to get to the school nativity on time; to get all those work things done before you take a few well deserved days off; to get the presents wrapped; the decorations up; the cards delivered…the list goes on…
But it doesn’t have to be like this, there is another wa...y. Close your eyes for a moment, take a couple of deep breaths and imagine a calmer Christmas.
But it doesn’t have to be just a figment of your imagination – it can truly happen..................

Here are some great ways to keep the stress down this year to help you have a happy, relaxing, calm Christmas:
Tip 2: Get enough sleep
Plan for as many early nights as you can. When we sleep we don’t just restore our bodies, we restore our minds too, helping us to process all the events of the day and removing much of the emotion that gets tied up with those events too helping us to be able to look at them with a clear, calm, rational mind.

A client of mine had a big exam today so last night we were talking about nerves. Positive stress can be good sometimes and keeps us on our toes!

Had a brilliant session with a lady today who has had a difficult time of things lately and was struggling with "destination obsession"....constantly striving for the next job, the next house, looking around to find the next thing that can make her happy.
Today my office was filled with laughter and serotonin as we realised that when she looked around, she was just like Disney's Moana, and that happiness can be found right where you are....

Here are some great ways to keep the stress down this year to help you have a happy, relaxing, calm Christmas:
Tip 1: Everything in moderation
It may be the season to be jolly, but too much food and alcohol is harmful. I don’t want to be a stick in the mud but too much alcohol knocks out your lovely feel good hormone serotonin so if you know you want to be at your best it might be wise to limit your intake.

Our brain can get stuck in behaviour patterns leaving us with habits we wished we never had. The good news is our brain is constantly re-wiring itself so we can change these habits with the right focus.
What habit would you love to be without?

One of the great things about training to become a hypnotherapist is learning about how our brains work. But we don’t want to keep this information to ourselves!
At Inspired to Change we teach our clients all about how they can get the best out of their brain and here are some of our favourite tips to help you unlock your brain’s potential too!
Tip 4 – Exercise your body
... We all know that exercise is good for our bodies right, but did you know it was good for your brain too?
When we exercise we release our feel good hormone serotonin which doesn’t just make us feel happy, it lights up all the connections in our brain helping us to think faster and more creatively; to take information in better, store it better and retrieve it faster too; it helps us to problem solve as well as motivating us to take action.
So a morning run, swim or ride to work is exactly what you need if you want to have the benefit of that serotonin all through the day or a brisk walk at lunch time is the perfect boost to stave off that afternoon brain lull.

Tip 3 – Feed your brain
When we are choosing what to eat we usually think about the energy and nutrients our body needs and little t...hought goes on thinking about what our brain needs.
Our brain has about 500 calories a day available to it for all the thought processes and decision making it needs to make. But not just any calories – our brain loves the slow release energy we get from low GI foods like nuts, seeds, high quality proteins and leafy green vegetables.
Healthy snacks between meals stop the afternoon brain fog and low motivation evenings that can be a spanner in the works if you’re trying to achieve something awesome! And don’t forget to water your brain either!
Our brain’s are 85% water and dehydration will also have a negative effect on your brains ability to function.

As urban growth continues apace, can neuroscience help us better understand how cities function and thereby re-imagine them into healthier, more prosperous, places?

“I still really enjoy good food, but now it’s just food…it’s not a guilty lover thing anymore”

When we smile our brain releases our feel good hormone serotonin helping to boost our mood.
What made you smile today?

Sadly it’s impossible to take a photo of serotonin (our feel good hormone in our brain) but imagine a 40-year-old Godmother doing the school run with 5-year-old and 2-year-old “Greatest Showman” addicts and you’d get a rough idea of how our week has started!
What are you doing this morning to ensure you get your week off to a great start?
