The International Latin Society With Plymouth University


Welcome to the official Facebook Page for the International Latin Society at the University of Plymouth. This society is dedicated to anyone that appreciates Spanish, Portuguese and Latin culture, regardless of your own background or language capabilities.

Our aim is to bring together all people with a shared interest, whether that interest is the dancing, the languages or any other aspect of Latin culture. We hope to unite everyone, both within the Plymouth community and across the South West and beyond.

We hold weekly dance classes in Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba. It doesn't matter if you're an experienced dancer or have two left feet, we welcome all abilities.

✪ Dancing every Monday evening:
Expect a variety of dancing every Monday from Kizomba, Salsa, Bachata and more. Be sure to join the society today and be a part of the growing Latin dancing community in Plymouth. No partner is necessary, and non-students are welcome to join us. Lessons are £4 each, or £6 for any two - they don't need to be the same style.

Our classes will be held in the Illusion room of UPSU . The timetable for the night is the following:

- 19: 30 – 20: 15 : Beginner's Kizomba with DiXon
- 20: 15 – 21: 00 : Improver's Kizomba with DiXon
- 21: 00 – 21: 45 : Salsa with Misael
- 21: 45 – 22: 30 : Bachata with Misael
- 22: 30 – LATE : PARTY

✪ Parties:
As a society, we believe that as well as providing dance and opportunities to learn and improve a second language, it’s important to get away from your studies, relax and have fun. These include Spanish, Brazilian and monthly Latin parties, as well as Kizomba nights regularly, and weekly Afro-Latin nights in PL4 nightclub on Saturdays.

✪ Language learning (practice Spanish /Portuguese with native speakers):
The society has a multi-cultural set of people who are more than happy to help with language development to ensure that you get as many opportunities to practice and improve the Spanish and Portuguese languages.

This year will see expansion into other cultural events, such as both Latin and International cuisine nights, better opportunities to learn and practice Spanish and Portuguese, and more. Whatever you're interested in, we can cater for you.
