I wouldn't give InterRent one star rating ..minus 5 is more realistic. The first problem we had was when we collected the rental car. The young lady at reception told us that they don't recognise or accept the full cover insurance that we brought with the broker Economy Bookings at the same time as paying for the hire car. We had to pay £145 for full cover insurance for 5 days rental. The car was 3 years old and had more than 49,000 miles. It was a diesel car but paperwork stated petrol. Less than half an hour on the road, on the motorway the car lost power and temperature warning light came on. The RAC recovery told us the car was un roadworthy and it had been towed away for the exact same problem 2 weeks prior. InterRent refused to deliver a replacement car to us, we had to make a 60 mile taxi ride to collect the replacement car which we were told was "as good as new" however it had a massive dent on the bonnet and the wheel was badly scuffed , none of which was noted on the paperwork. We were only in the UK for 5 days and every day was ruined by this company. Customer service is non existent.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. IDIOTS. Was in a hurry with the kids and signed the document. Found out next morning they charged me for insurance that I had already paid with Ryanair in advance. Not informed at the counter what I was signing. Phoned and wrote straight away. Customer service is abysmal and cannot even use correct English grammar or even understand the language - they are not interested in refunding anything as I apparently made no complaint during the rental period although the mail they sent had my original complaint underneath with the date and time! Maybe my lawyer and the credit card company will convince them otherwise.

It's a shame that I have to give one star. I booked via the airline I was travelling with and pre-booked all the insurance in advance. When I got to pick up my car I had a lovely conversation with the lady behind the counter and explained that I would not require and additional insurance. I was told that my card would need to be scanned with the deposit of £3k which I was happy to do. There was then a charge on my account after the weekend and the car was returned. it has taken my 2 months to get an explanation of what this was for (left the rental agreement in the glove box - won’t be doing that again), in the end I had to dispute the charge with my credit card company in order to get a response. It turns out I was charged for insurance that I declined. Please note to all check your rental agreement before leaving the counter- yes I should have paid more attention when signing, but when I specifically requested no insurance and then I was told I would have to leave a deposit as insurance is being declined...
I will never use this firm again, if car companies want to charge more for their rentals, be honest and charge up front and get rid of these sneaky add on charges.

Staff was super friendly and convinced me to upgrade with a reasonable price. I had a fantastic rental and zero problems. A+ in my book!

This pretty much ticked all the boxes for a horrid rental experience... To start with the money side of things this rental ended up costing us more than 300 GBP more than expected. We had reserved a car via Ryan air for our two weeks of vacation and had prepaid 258.86 GBP and before we left Interrent's rental shack in Stansted extremely agressive sales "technique" and sheer exhaustion on my part had added 350 GBP to the bill. For the past 7 years we have rented a car for our summer holiday in the UK and we thought we knew how to deal with the extra sale that seems to be part of the car rental business. But we were apparently sitting ducks for your sales person. To this day I am not still quite sure how she did it but it was bordering on the unsavoury. I don't know if Interrent trains their personnel to do this to people who - let's face it - are at a disadvantage form the start but this was almost like being caught in a bad con movie. Somehow the salesperson managed to convince us that the extra insurance we had purchased beforehand (just to be sure they wouldn't "get us" - ha...) was worthless and that the limited mileage we had on the contract was never going to be enough (it would have been with hundreds of miles to spare). Goodbye 266 GBP. On top of that we were "convinced" by the salesperson to buy the upgrade to a different car but here even more confusion was thrown in to the mix because the car she had promised us instead (the upgrade) had suddenly been rented out to somebody else... In hindsight this could have been a deliberate attempt to further throw us off balance but I sure hope not. In my book this would be borderline criminal. Anyway, I go back and say I want the car I originally booked then and have my money back for the upgrade. More confusion and rolling of eyes and by that point I was so exhausted (not to mention how the rest of my family looked) that we just gave up and took another car that had "suddenly" become available... And which was purportedly also a much better car than the one we had originally booked. So I gave up. I am still not quite sure that the car she ended up giving us (and we ended up paying 84 GBP for) was not really the one we had originally booked. Maybe I am being unjust to the sales person but I really feel that I was scammed. There was so much confusion and so much you as a (tired) customer were ill prepared to deal with that made the whole scene seem like a plot to just fleece people for as much more money as possible. I hope I am wrong but I doubt it...

Very bad experience!!! I unfortunately got a fine in a car park. The car company paid the fine and informed me after over 1 month about it. They asked me to pay the total amount of the fine plus an admin fee of 50 pound because they dealt with the problem!!! They should have just notifyed me immediately so that I could have paid the fine myself. That is stealing money to people. Ridiculus.

Literally the worst service, rude unhelpful staff, spent most of the time sending personal texts rather than actually doing their job. Don't use this car rental company they are terrible and over charge as well as hide important information on their website. AVOID.

We arrived on an early morning flight. Judging by the lines at other car companies this was not a busy time of day. We booked our car well in advance and the price we were quoted was good. At the car rental village we had to wait in line for over one hour to be processed. We had to pay an additional £20 more than we were quoted for a 2-day rental. Then, having paid, we were told that we would have to another half hour while our car was located. When we got it, it was not the class of car (4-door) we had booked.

If you book with Inter Rent make sure the money you save is worth the time you will lose. If you can afford to hang around the airport for two hours and you don't car what kind of car you get it might be worth using this company. But we will never use them again.

Avoid!

I Paid for my car online and arrived at the Stansted office to collect it but was informed that 'the computer says no' and they couldn't release the car despite hiring from them in the past at this location.
I asked for an explanation why I had been refused but the counter operative couldn't answer my questions.
They refused to refund my money despite my turning up on time with all relevant paperwork, driving licence with me etc.Thankfully I had reserved and paid for the car with Expedia who reviewed my case and raised a refund as a gesture of goodwill .
After being refused I walked to the Hertz rental desk about 15 meters away and hired a car using the same paperwork as I had presented at Interrent with absolutely no problem at all.
If you don't mind being left stranded then use these people otherwise steer well clear..total rip off

No one at the counter when we arrived. After 15 minutes a person showed up. At this point we were 8 people queeing. When I was to be served he didn't havve the type of car I had ordered, but a smaller car. I objected to this. After 10 minutes I was told to go to Europcar. He had then arranged for us to have a car from them. I was satisfied, and left. What he didn't tell me was that he charged me for an upgrade and for extra mileage. This I discovered when I received the bill from my creditcard company. I will never use this company again!

Interent Stansted is a cheap no frills car hire service. You get what you pay for. Don't expect a clean car or good service and if there is a problem with the car expect no service at all as I experienced and you will have to pay for everything even if you can prove that you were not responsible for damage etc. Don't bother trying to communicate with this company if there are problems as you will either be treated with complete contempt or be ignored. Also remember that you have a 90 mile per day limit. Going over this you pay a substantial penalty. if you need more miles, choose a different more trustworthy company. So if you are willing to take the risk, you can get away with a fairly cheap car hire. I have decided to return to trusty Budget. May be a little bit more expensive but far better service.

I want to give ZERO stars but can't. At the time of my hire, they were closed and operated by Europcar because it was late. However, I took a photo of the car prior to taking it (I always do with hire cars).

Europcar contact me nearly a month later, by the post (not email, since I was travelling) accusing me of damage to the car.

I replied promptly with my photo showing proof that I was not responsible for damage. I never heard back, but 4 months later they've just deducted £150!

Extremely poor customer service!
