Intrepid Exposures
About Intrepid Exposures
Worldwide adventure travel photography tours and workshops with a focus on intrepid locations, high quality tuition and authentic experiences.
Intrepid Exposures Description
Intrepid Exposures was born out of a bad case of wanderlust, along with a desire to take great photographs and help others do the same. Our aim is to do what no one else is currently doing: use our experience of travel and as professional photographers to give you authentic, off-the-beaten path photo excursions to some of the most exciting and photogenic locations.
When we’re not leading photography tours, we run The Intrepid Exposures Academy. This is a new free educational community for travel photographers everywhere, offering open high quality resources, inspiration and discussion groups.

"The village was ready for the final show, colours were being applied. I came out of a house to refresh myself and I realized a third figure created a beautiful coloured triangle with the outside two..."
Today on the Intrepid Exposure's inspiration gallery we're featuring Arpan Basu Chowdhury's incredibly vibrant image of Shiva Gajan. Find out more about how this shot was crafted over on our site here: https://intrepidexposures.com/…/shiva-g ajan-west-bengal-ar…/
It's very rare that we come across a photographer like Chu Việt Hà. His playful photographs of Hanoi and beyond display an incredible use of composition and colour, while whimsically capturing the true spirit of the streets of Vietnam.
Extremely talented but incredibly humble, we had the pleasure of interviewing Chu to find out what goes into some of these incredible shots. Spend an hour and lose yourself in his stunning photography here: https://intrepidexposures.com/…/intervi ew-with-hanoi-stree…/
"I love to shoot on the streets, where I can interact with all different kinds of people. This kind of photography helps me to understand myself and my role in society better. The light in this particular part of the market was incredibly beautiful, so I set up and waited to capture the perfect moment."
Take a look behind Chu Việt Hà's striking shot of the Đồng Xuân Market in Hanoi on the inspirational images archive today.

As photographers we are often searching for the elusive 'light bulb' moment, that small spark of creativity which sets apart a good photograph from a great one. We've taken a look at creative expert Julie Burstein's 4 lessons to see how they apply to us as photographers, featuring work from Ricardo Cases, Keith Carter, Doug Dubois and Joel Meyerowitz.
We'd love to hear how you apply some of these lessons to your own photography, or if you have any other ways of finding those sparks of creativity. Let us know in the comments!

"The low winter sun gently breaks through the fog and lights up the landscape creating the perfect image. The landscape revealed something truly magical and beautiful, as if from a fantasy tale.”

In the internet age its very easy to look for a ‘quick fix’ and hundreds of articles promise the ‘secrets’ to making it big as a photographer. We forget that the best (and most timeless) advice generally comes from the masters, those who’ve made it already. On the Academy section today you can find three letters of advice from some of the 20th centuries most influential photographers. Is this advice still relevant? We think it is, but we'd love to hear your comments!
“I had a strong idea of what I wanted to achieve, to get in close and capture the expressions at the moment the fire crackers went off. I probably took well over a hundred shots to get this one.”
Looking at great images helps us make great images. Our new Behind The Shot Inspiration section features the best picks of travel and documentary photography and reveals the process behind the magic. First up is Tom Bourdon's stunning ‘Firecrackers at the Vegetarian Festival’.

Ever wonder why some images work so well? We just published a post over on our new Academy looking at how we read a photograph. This post goes beyond composition to look at signs, symbols, and meaning of the imagery. We'd love to hear what you think https://intrepidexposures.com/…/how-do- we-read-a-photograph/
Its been a bit quiet here, but thats because we’ve got some interesting changes going on behind the scenes at Intrepid Exposures. Watch this space and we’ve got some exciting developments to share with you soon!
When we set out to create Intrepid Exposures, environmental and community sustainability were at the core of our plans. We believe that photography and travel, in general, should be conducted with the lightest footprint possible.
We recently became a member of Responsible Travel, which as an organisation promotes the very same ideals as we do, for sustainability and environmental protection.
Our first Responsible Travel tour just went up on their website and we hope to prom...ote many more of our tours with them in the future
