We’ve had an amazing response to our latest recruitment campaign! Our Monday Fitcamp, Fitcamp55 (over 55’s only), and Kettlefit classes are now full.
Thank you so much to everyone who has joined us.
We do however have limited spaces in our Wednesday Fitcamp class. Your first class is free, so why not give it a go? It’s fun, you’ll make new friends and....you’ll get fit as well!!!

Resistance training has a positive impact on your mental health. This article from British Weight lifting explains why.

And congratulations to Eliud Kipchoge who set a new world record for men of 2:01:39 on September 16, 2018, at the 2018 Berlin Marathon.

Here a physiotherapist looks at the effect of posture on your hips, and your diaphragm. The diaphragm is your primary breathing muscle and it’s function can be impaired by poor posture and tight hips.

It’s hot.....but is it too hot to workout?
It’s tempting to miss a fitness class or a run in this weather, but you’ll be doing yourself a huge favour if you stick at it.
You can take advantage of the hot weather to bag these health and fitness gains.
... 1. Exercising in temperatures above 68f is as effective as altitude training in improving your VO2max (a measure of how efficient your body is using oxygen for energy)
2. You’ll make more red blood cells than normal. These transport energy around the body, so you don’t get so tired in the heat.
3. Your heart gets stronger and better at pumping blood to the surface of the skin. This will cool your body temperature.
Yes, the challenge level goes up, but so will your sense of accomplishment. You’ll also get a huge psychological boost when it cools and workouts seem so much easier again!
And remember, take on plenty of fluid and eat a healthy, balanced diet.

We’ve received several requests to change the time of Wednesday Fitcamp so crew mates can workout and then watch England in the World Cup semi final (😬)
Fitcamp on Wednesday will start at 6pm. (This week only!)
If any Gold or Silver members cannot make this session due to the earlier start, please let us know and we’ll refund a £5 credit.
... It’s coming home.....!

Drinking plenty of water in this glorious weather is of course a great idea! Make sure you also eat a healthy, balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals. The heat, and exercise, will make us sweat, so we lose vital minerals such as zinc, magnesium, sodium, calcium, potassium. These are all essential for keeping body tissue (skin, bones muscles etc) in good condition.
Minerals also help your metabolism, i.e turning what you eat into energy and materials for growth and repair. Mineral loss can therefore make you feel very tired, and can contribute to injury.
If you struggle to get enough vitamins and minerals in your diet, a multi vitamin and mineral supplement could help. Your pharmacist can help you choose the right one for you.

Rest and recovery are essential components of any health and fitness routine. To this end, Invictus Training are taking a break.
We'll be closed and offline from Sun 1 July - Sun 8 July 2018
We've chosen these dates because July is a 5 week month, so we can still have 4 whole weeks of training in July.
... Our July newsletter is coming soon, and this will contain fun fitness challenges to keep you active and amused through the week !!!

Some great fitness advice from Ida Keeling, world 100m sprint record holder.

User

At Invictus we recommend that you:
Do moderate aerobic activity (e.g walking/jogging/cycling etc) for 2-3 hours per week
Complete whole body resistance training(lifting weights, doing body weight exercises) for about 30 minutes twice a week e.g Fitcamp, Fitcamp55, Kettlefit, Bootcamp
... Throw in about 10 minutes of sprinting (any activity that gets your heart really racing!) over the course of the week.
This will bring you optimal health and fitness benefits for your whole body.
This latest study supports our approach👍

Simon is a fantastic trainer, me and my husband go to fit camp once a week and really enjoy it. Great value for money, the sessions are personalised even though you are in a group and circuit training means you don't have time to think about anyone else, you're focused on yourself and what you are trying to achieve. I recommend Invictus Training to anyone who wants to achieve personal goals, to enjoy working out with others or just to exercise for fun.
