Island Lodge Caravan & Camping Site

Island lodge is a well maintained site. The showers are modern and clean. The site is dog friendly as well. Pixie the owner is very welcoming and helpful if you have any problems. Thoroughly recommend

Planned an adventure to Devon to try out our new camper. As Devon is the heart of camping I naively thought we'd be able to find a campsite when down there. On arrival I rang around alot of campsites and most were closed or didn't accept dogs (November). Finally rang Island Lodge at 5.15pm (already dark) and was told she could only fit us in on the carpark as she was chock-a. I gladly accepted this kind offer and explained I needed to go and get shopping for dinner and then we'd be straight over (at this point i was on the beach, had to get to my vehicle, drive to supermarket 10 miles away, shop and get back to campsite) .This seemed not to be a problem - she kindly told me where the nearest supermarket was, so was aware the distance I had to travel (me not knowing the area at all) and said to come up the drive, she'd see us on the CCTV and would come out to meet us. I arrived on the drive at 7pm and out of courtesy called to say we'd arrived 1hr 45mins after our conversation knowing full well i didnt know the area and a had to go a get some food and supplies. At this point the same lady told me she was not prepared to come out now and would no longer take us in, then rudely put the phone down on me not allowing me to speak (at no point in our previous conversation was I given a curfew, or I would have made sure I went to the campsite before the supermarket).
This left me feeling very vunerable and had no choice but to sleep on the road side. Very disappointing and not a very hospitable message to give out to tourists new to the area.

This is the best kept site we have ever been on which is why we have a seasonal there. Pixie is lovely and so helpful. Set amongst gorgeous countryside and close to stunning beaches. To us it's a second home.

Thumbs up to Island Lodge with its great facilities, location and easy access to Kingsbrige and the surrounding area. We love the walk into Kingsbrige, and the bus back, which stops at the bottom of the road. Kath Parker always gives us a warm welcome and we feel as if we are going home, every time we visit. We have a serviced pitch, fantastic. Cant wait to get back down there - 10 out of 10
