Parts are a dump but others are wild and wonderful. There are some lovely sandy beaches near Leysdown. The south coast of the island is saltmarsh which is stunning when the sea lavender is in flower as well as attracting lots of wildlife. There are several reserves on Sheppey including Swale National Nature Reserve and Spitend (Elmley). The church at Harty is worth a visit especially during the flower festival. The Harty Inn is very good as is Leysdown bakery. The west of the island is more industrial. Sheppey is a popular destination for holiday makers from Essex with lots of caravan parks on the island. The island has 2 train stations on the west side which connect to Sittingbourne. There is a reasonable bus service but some of the villages only have one bus a hour at best.

It's a huge place, parts of it are dire and others lovely. Hard to give it an overall rating.
Avoid on a wet or windy winters day!

Did not like it. There were almost no people on the island and there wasn't anything to do. Been here august 2017
