ANNOUNCEMENT: Because of the rearrangement of the "A Day at the Races Event" to September 16th, we are having to cancel our "Mystery Event" on September 9th.
The amount of preparation and the number of staff and volunteers needed for a ADAR means that it is extremely difficult to put two events on in such a short space of time.

Great news...Prentice is now available for adoption! www.iowdonkeysanctuary.org

Please note: The BBC and the Met Office weather forecast tomorrow is for rain and heavy rain throughout the day, with a small break for afternoon thunderstorms.
In the light of this forecast, we have no alternative but to POSTPONE tomorrow's event "A Day at the Races"
We simply can't ask stallholders to stand out in the rain and wind or ask children to participate in fun events in poor conditions. Similarly, it is not possible to have power to the PA, or electric cable to mic...rophones in wet conditions.
However, we do intend to run the 5k run at 11.30am and will need some car parkers to help, please. Similarly, we will be open to the public as if it was a normal day, so volunteers to help run activities will be most welcome!
We intend to stage the event on September 16th - weather permitting. Anybody who has sponsored a donkey will have their sponsorship rolling forward to that new date.

Visited isle of Wight Donkey sanctuary back in November 2017 last year me and my partner went in to the shop. I brought my mother in law a bag with a cute donkey on it . When she goes she take the bag everywhere she goes. All the donkeys and baby donkeys are so cute ... we will back there in November 2018 can't wait

User

This place is amazing! The donkeys, horses and ponies are all so well looked after and loved. The staff are great too. One staff member even took me round and 'introduced' me to lots of the donkeys, and explained all the work that they do. It is also free to enter (make a donation if you can!). I visited via bus, which being disabled, was a little hairy as the stops are on a reasonably busy road, but I'm so glad I made the effort! I can't wait to visit again. Thank you!

User

This place is amazing and the animals are looked after so well. The staff even cater for gluten and lactose free customers even though it's such a small place..keep up the good work. well worth a visit.

User

This is an amazing place! We absolutely loved it! If you visit at Isle of Wight, you must visit it!

User

I love the Donkey Sanctuary. It's a peaceful and friendly place for humans too, and the fact it is also dog friendly means everybody wins! I have just adopted Joseph, who originally comes from Guernsey - just like me. As Guernsey people are called Donkeys due to our stubborn and wilful nature, it would have been rude not to adopt him. The staff were very helpful in walking around the paddocks with me so I could take photos with my new friend, and I indulged in lots of Donkey goodies from the shop too. This is one of my favourite places to visit, and as I now live on the IOW, I will return to pay Joseph regular visits and enjoy a cheese scone or two in the café.

User

Had a brilliant mothers day grooming belle , having a cream tea and feeding smudgy and leighton love this place xx

User

First class place to visit the donkeys are so well cared for & it’s a pleasure to visit them 😍😍

User

Fantastic place.

All the animals are so well looked after. All individual needs taken into account.

Staff are knowledgeable and willing to answer questions.

You just HAVE to visit.

User

Fantastic place to visit for free. The Donkeys are so well looked after that it would be a privilege to be a "donkey here". I know a lot of the staff are Volunteers who go above and beyond what is expected and are so supportive in emergencies and care of the donkeys. Also there is a great Charity Shop, Gift Shop and Tea Rooms - a definite place to visit for an enjoyable time. Something for everyone from young to old and disabled friendly too with good access.

User

User

Excellent to see such good work being slowly built up from scratch and not over commercialised, the animals are so well looked after and is a pleasure seeing them happy. Long may you raise enough funds to continue

User
