Never liked it here - staff often seemed arrogant (road bike side). Tried it again for first time in ages. No change. There are much more friendly bike shops in Sheff. Avoid until it wakes up

Avoid this company ... took my Brompton in to have a crank arm fitted , came back with a broken sprocket, two weeks later still not fixed. No communication... and this is supposed to be a leading Brompton re-seller. Take your bike sales& repairs and business elsewhere.. Very very unhappy ... Be warned.

Great Service 10/10

Spent yonks looking across forums & reddit for some information for a new bike but wasn't getting to far. Decided to pop into the Sheffield JE James as it is next door to where I live. There I was served by Jamie who I can't sing his praises enough. Worked in retail most my life and his customer service was second to non. He spent so much of his time explaining whats what. His experiences with certain brands and components. And ultimately from that advice the info to make a decision. Ended up getting a bike I'm totally in love with and is a pleasure to ride.
Someone give this guy a medal. Great store. Have returned several times since to get bits and bobs and its been great. Would recommend.

Lovely people, naturally nice, good service - and they also have some really superb racing bikes for sale there too.

Looking at a road bike suitable for an eight year old, excellent impartial advice from knowledgeable staff, compared to Evans cycles where to be frank I may have been more informed than they were!

Always friendly on both sides of the street and I definitely feel they're more about what suits the person rather than their own financial gain. They've been able to get me things that they don't normally stock too. Thanks guys

Stephen Allen and all the team have provided lots of support and help to get my bike to me before my holiday. Really helpful with spares etc. as it's a long time since I rode! Thank you.

GURU BIKE FIT: I had accidentally fallen into to cycling through work. My employers were offering a cycle to work scheme offering part payment towards a new bike. The civil service never offer any thing for free, so I jump to the chance of getting something for free. Having not really done any research I went and brought a road bike for just under a £1000, taking full advantage of the maximum discount my employers were offering towards my bike. It had been almost 3 decades since I last rode a bicycle. I quickly realised from collecting my bike from the store that a bike of this value came with no pedals. Having bartered with the staff, they were kind enough to provide me with some free pedals. Moving on 3yrs. I have upgraded my bike and practically have all gear, but still little to no idea. A man of my age would have developed niggling health issues, such as lower back and knee pains as well diabetes and other related issues which accompany diabetes. Having spoken to a number of middle aged cyclist enthusiastic. The increasingly common problem we were all facing was comfort when cycling over a long period of time.

My own personal problems were the discomfort and pain around my shoulders, lower back, numbness in my fingers and cramp in both my feet setting in after only an hour of peddling. Anyway I was advised to invest in a bike fit, which I was somewhat reluctant to do. Having somewhat put off with the price tag of a professional bike fit. Having sought permission from the good wife who had argued would equate to a new handbag. I finally took the plunge with a “Guru” bike fit at a reputable bike store in Sheffield (JJ James). The fit started with some basic information being inputted into a computer. My height, weight, bike model, seat model, cycling shoes, etc, etc. The fitter then went onto examine my bike measuring the bike as a reference point. The fit moved onto to what can only be described as a robotic bike, something out blade runner (Google it, those under the age of 30yrs). Quite a bit time was spent warming up. The fitter quickly identified a number of issues. A higher hand position and adjusting the height of the seat even higher with a very slight shuffle forward of the seat. This hopefully would elevate the pain in my back and knees. The numbness to my fingers was quickly solved by simply flipping the existing stem bar and wearing padded gloves. The fitter went onto identified that shoulder pain was due to the incorrect size of my handlebars. In that my arms were slightly arched apart. He recommended a 400mm length replacement handlebars. Next came the shoes. The fitter quickly identified that my cleat position on both of my shoes were way out. Following the fit I was instructed to go out for a spin for an hour or so. I immediately noticed a significant difference. It certainly has increased my power when peddling and more importantly my endurance, allowing to ride longer in the saddle. Finally and more importantly ironing out those niggling knee and back pains. Don't be put off by the price. Its money well spent.

Today i visited a number of cycle shops. i am a short adult male and wanted a mountain bike with a small or x small frame.

The sales girl Anya could not have been more helpful. i was in the shop for at least an hour, maybe 90 minutes. She set up 3 different bikes for me, adjusted things, tweaked other things, all with no pressure to purchase at all.

In the end i bought a bike, and am very happy with the advice given.
