really cool place! the girl working there on sunday was really informative and interesting, exhibits were cool as specially the bottom room

User

fantastic, very informative, extremely friendly lady at Museum advised we could take pictures which is very unusual and so helpful with my daughters learning. Advised best order to see the rooms, they also have a lift for disabled. We also booked the tour at 3pm only a small group of us which was brilliant very knowledgeable tour guide and learnt so much. Helped seeing the Museum first and as the tour finished at the Museum you could go in again or look at around the shop. Highly recommend. Best way for my daughter studying the subject of Whitechapel to learn and really gets you thinking.

What an enjoyable morning at this interesting establishment.

The first thing I must say was how lovely and friendly the receptionist was. What a lovely lady. Nothing was too much trouble for her.

5 floors of interesting exhibits gave a taste of life in late Victorian East End of London.

Well worth a visit. Highly recommended.

What a lovely little gem which just happens to be in a historic location too!

This small, well thought-out museum is a very good starting point for anyone wanting to get an overview of the events surrounding the murder victims associated with the murderer who came to be known as Jack the Ripper.

Amongst other things, we particularly loved the details provided about the lives of the women (in the attic bedroom), the amount of information in the staircases (beautifully done!) and the highlighting of the facts of life in the poverty-stricken East End of the late 1880s. It comes across very well that women in poverty often had little option at the time other than work in prostitution, and some of the displays in the museum continue to highlight their plea. We also liked the reconstructed mortuary, which is done very tastefully (nothing gruesome at all!) and in respectful memory of the murdered women. I used to teach history and would gladly have brought pupils here as an introduction to the topic - this museum is very well suited to children as well.

In addition, the lady selling admission tickets and serving in the gift shop is absolutely delightful - friendly, welcoming, approachable and extremely accommodating. Meeting her and chatting with her was an absolute bonus! We definitely enjoyed our visit.

Well I’d give this place 6 out of 5. A bit difficult to find, although that could my famous sense of direction , but this is a true find and perfect for Ripper fans everywhere, each floor has a different scene and is very well done. I went on a weekday and had the place to myself, the lady on the front desk was so helpful a real credit. In the basement as one would expect is the mortuary, it’s cooler and quiet, the photos on the wall are autopsy photos and not for the squeamish.

I came out of there feeling really sorry for these women, not something I was expecting.

If you love Jack the Ripper then this is the museum for you.

Love it love it love it

User

Very well done museum! If you are a ripperologist or just like unsolved murder cases, you have to visit the place.

User

Very unique museum! I think it’s best for true crime fans who know alot about the facts as opposed to a novice. It’s creepy and fun, but also pays great respect to the victims. Worth the £12!!

User

Very interesting, the displays were fantastic . You can see a lot about jack's case back in 1888, also you can try and find his indentity.

There many clues , maps that show the locations of the murders , pictures of suspects, items that belonged to the policeman P.C Watkings. You have to visit the museum if you are fan of jack or you like a little mystery.

Its only 10 minutes away from tower hill tube.

I strongly recommend it and if you dont know about jack the ripper a lot you can always ask for information at the reception who by the way was very helpful and kind!

User

This place is amazing! It has been created with painstaking attention to detail, incredibly well executed (‘scuse the pun), and a truly fantastic experience for those interested in the Ripper murders. The museum is also respectful to the memory of the victims, keeping them at the centre of the story. Highly recommended.

User

The first observation I made was the warm welcome we received from the lovely receptionist. Very engaging, informative and truly an asset to the team.

The museum is unlike any museum I've ever been to as some of the exhibits are interactive and you're encouraged to explore or try on hats/cloaks etc.. I indulged lol.

The recreated rooms are very well done and the sounds add an entirely new dimension.. Mary Kelly's bedroom in particular (haunting).

I dunno if it's a manufactured effect or because the building is old but the creaking floorboards/stairs add another authenticity and I hope they never (fix) them.

The tour was very informative, sometimes interrupted by traffic (it's London, it's expected) but our guide was very professional and waited for environmental noise to pass before continuing with her guidance. She was really good, obviously passionate about the case and as interested about the mystery of Jack The Ripper as we all were. She encouraged interaction and invited questions during the whole tour.

If you're interested in the Ripper case and want to see some of the locations of the actual murders then you can't go wrong with the museum/tour package.

Thank you very much x

User

Had a fantastic time in this museum. We had the biggest warm welcome the moment we walked through the door and its brilliant how it has all been put together from the victorian rooms to the suspects and victims. Great day out.

User

Great museum, loved the recreations of some of the scenes and all of the information pieces together. Most importantly we loved the walking tour with Melissa. She was very personable and we had a great conversation with her about all the possible suspects and motives. I highly recommend!!

User

User

User

Awesome stuff although wasn't in there very long I enjoyed it a lot. the bedroom was great letting you play about with the stuff. there's quite a bit of info dotted about and the lady on reception was dead friendly. if you have any interest in jack the ripper well worth a looksy

User

Well worth the entry fee. Very enjoyable visit. The lady who mans the entrance and shop was so nice and helpful.

User

Very detailed and nice walk into history, I guess to make it more Interesting i would make the crime scene more realistic, such as a make the girl have a slashed throat with some blood .... otherwise the lady at the front was very nice 👍

User

Okay so reading all the reviews on here I have to say, I went and we were probably only in there a hour or so but the staff member who was there was lovely.

Yes jack the ripper did some horrible things to women of the 1888's however if any of you actually read what was written on one of the wall going up the stairs, he actually made an impact on the west end and things were changed for the better because of his crimes!

Before anyone slates this off actually do some research. The price was okay, yes they could do some more stuff or have some more up to date technology but it would just spoil the look of the rooms that they have done.

I think they have done a good job with the space they have.
