In case you missed it, here's the link to our blog post which puts the spotlight on Williamsburg Handmade Oil Colors Porcelain White. We decided to look at four of Williamsburg’s Handmade White Oil Paints to explore the differences in working characteristics between them and see why they introduced Safflower Porcelain White to their range: https://www.jacksonsart.com/…/11/four-w hite-oil-paints-tes…/

Mark Finch won the Scenes of Everyday Life category award in Jackson’s Open Painting Prize 2019. His disturbing painting, Circean Poisons, depicts the Greek myth of Circe, who, in The Odyssey, uses food to transform Odysseus’s greedy crewmen into swine on her island of Aeaea. In Mark Finch’s retelling, Aeaea takes the shape of a colourful English fairground and Circe, a vendor, doles out the transformative fast food from her truck. The winning painting is one in a series of works that reimagines Greek tragedies to expose the omnipresent themes of human nature, with details from the original myths, embedded in the British landscape. We caught up with Mark about his palette, perspective and production of a myth: https://www.jacksonsart.com/…/…/mark- finch-artist-interview/

The Lukas 1862 Watercolour range is unique in that along with the standard half pans and full pans, all 70 colours within the range are available in chunky 24ml tubes. The generous size of the tubes are a great option for those artists that get through a lot of paint. Of the 70 colours within the range, 48 have single pigments which means that the colours are intense and allow for clean colour mixing. They are also cruelty free due to their use of synthetic Ox-Gall as a wetting agent. On offer as part of our Big Watercolour Sale, save up to 25% off RRP until midnight Monday: https://bit.ly/2FFcEQz

Blockx Watercolours are made using only lightfast pigments to insure stability because watercolour is a naturally fragile medium. The most intense and brilliant pigments, which always can be diluted but never improved. Made with the finest traditional ingredients but prepared with a modern formula for the needs of today’s artists. Slowly ground on stone tricylinders to simulate the manual process and accentuate the individual quality of each colour. Available in 15ml tubes and giant pans (3.5" x 2.5"). Save up to 20% off RRP as part of our 4 day Big Watercolour Sale which ends midnight Monday: https://bit.ly/2Xal0pz

Is the Winsor & Newton Series 7 sable watercolour brush worth the high price and how does the DaVinci Artist Brushes Series 10 sable compare? We thought we’d ask skilled watercolour painter Juliette Losq to compare the two watercolour brushes and give us an expert answer to this question: https://www.jacksonsart.com/…/comparing -two-top-sable-wate…/
Both ranges are on offer as part of our Big Watercolour Sale which ends midnight Monday: https://bit.ly/2xhSlnI

After reading Ann Cahill’s review of Jackson’s Artist Cadmium Yellow Orange Watercolour saying ‘this is a lovely rich orange which, when picked up with more water on the brush, is a really lovely mellow orange yellow… very good for botanical work as most oranges I’ve tried are really quite harsh.’ We asked her to elaborate on her review and she started talking to us about why she transitioned from student grade to artist watercolour paint: https://www.jacksonsart.com/…/why-choos e-artist-watercolou…/

To enhance the clarity and depth of colour, single-pigments are used whenever possible within ShinHanart Premium Extra Fine Artists Watercolour Paint.
