He will be grateful for any contributions to the newsletter you are able to make. Memories of school days, fellow pupils and teachers are always popular as are more general memories of the times you were there and life outside and after school. Former pupils have a range of achievements and inter...esting anecdotes to go with them so please share them. Martin is about to start the process of putting the 2017 Old Boys Newsletter together and would be grateful for contributions. There is no particular topic or format required but past favourites have included memories of the schools, staff, other pupils or particular events and personal activities and achievements since leaving the Lodge or Tech. News of reunions also goes down well but views on Brexit, Donald Trump and Strictly Come Dancing are banned. Martin's happy to rec...eive electronic postings to this email address or hard copy contributions to 58 Middlefield Lane, Hagley, DY9 0PX. The same goes for any photographs, particularly ones of recent reunions and so on. Judging by communications he has receive during the year, some may wish to take the opportunity to try and track down former peers. The newsletter goes to well over 500 people so I’m happy to take that on as well and act as a post box in order to protect personal details. Dear Old Boy, Many of you will already know that Mick Kenna stood down as Honorary Secretary of Holly Lodge Grammar and James Watt Technical School Old Boys Association at the last dinner. Some will know that I am trying to fill his very big shoes. This note is both an introduction and request for assistance and should reach about one third of those whose records Mick passed on to me. There were 650 records in total and we have established email addresses for 216. You will... know that email allows for a quick and cheap exchange of information although not everybody will have the facility or desire to use it. An 'Old Boys' email account also readily allows me to share some of the work with those who said they were prepared to lend a hand in running the association, I would hate to disappoint them. However, it's not all good and I am well aware of the dangers of email, I personally have had more spam than the American army. In trying to make the most of email in a manner acceptable to all, I am asking for assistance with the following: • Please let me know if you do not wish to receive Old Boys communications by email or, particularly in the case of the annual dinner, if you would prefer an invitation and newsletter in hard copy as well; • If you would prefer to use a different email address to this one please give me details and I will alter my records; • I've already had a number of people contact me trying to track down other Old Boys. If you are not happy for me to pass on your email address or any other contact details without checking with you first, please let me know. I would only share such information with other Old Boys; and • If you are in regular contact with other Old Boys, please check to see if they have received this email and pass on the address if not.
You will shortly receive a second email which I've been asked to send and am happy to do so.
