Official Facebook page of Jamie's Italian restaurant in St Albans, Hertfordshire! Fantastic, rustic dishes made using tried, tested and loved recipes.

Jamie'S Italian St Albans Description

A real jewel of Hertfordshire, we converted this impressive listed 18th Century building, formerly The Bell pub, into a beautiful little restaurant, which perfectly encapsulates the neighbourhood feel of a classic Jamie's Italian. With tonnes of original features such as fireplaces and exposed brickwork, Jamie's Italian in St Albans is a great little spot to enjoy dinner after a day of shopping in The Maltings Centre next door.

St Albans Deli

Our beautiful deli is the perfect place to pick up fresh sandwiches and salads, as well as delicious sweet treats and hot drinks – whether you’re eating in or taking away. Located just next to main restaurant it’s also great spot to enjoy a drink and nibbles while you’re waiting for a table. Plus, if you’re looking for somewhere a little different to host an event, the Jamie's Italian deli in St Albans can also be hired for private functions – give us a call for more information.

Second time here and, again, not disappointed. Staff were very attentive and rang before hand to confirm reservation as we were travelling from afar. Water was offered for table and kids eat free offer was explained well. Food came quickly and empty plates taken just as quick. When asking for the bill, didn't have to wait too long to pay and all in all an enjoyable experience. Food was delicious and once again little man ate all his shake up veg/salad. Little lady had the salmon but found it a bit spicy for her liking even with the yoghurt dip. Homemade lemonade is to die for, fully recommend that drink!! Lovely children's activity bag. Full marks for a great time, thanks!

8 of us visited Jamie's yesterday early evening to celebrate my mother in laws birthday and it was my first time. I speak on behalf of everyone when I say we had the most amazing time. The service was great and the food was even better. It was very busy and our waitress was very attentive and polite throughout and kept our water topped up and the cocktails flowing. Halfway through our evening I was planning my next visit with my partner and children, and I will be a regular customer. Very well done to all the staff at Jamie's, I can't wait to come back.

The menu was okay and we enjoyed the food. We expected it to be busy on a Saturday and as we had not booked was pleasantly surprised that they could cater for family group of six. Our manager waitress was so lovely.

The only negative things were dirty forks, and it was very draughty where we were sitting and upstairs where the toilets were was freezing cold.

The food & drinks were lovely, it was Great weather and we sat outside on the terrace. Our waitress was really helpful and attentive, but the drinks were the star of the show for me - definitely order the homemade lemonade, a really super refreshing slug of juice over crushed ice with lemon & mint... it's almost like a Mojito! 👍🏼 My only niggle was the confusing layout upon entry... we wanted lunch, but something light, it became evident that there were 'areas', inside/bar & sandwiches, outside/ main restaurant but a different menu to the one inside... - a bit puzzling 🤔 - anyhow, the food & drinks were fab!

Nice place. Staff as as you'd expect. Quite chirpy and attentive. Menus is so-so. It's basically Bill's with Jamie Oliver's name. Think it could have a few more lighter options for daytime visits.

Only negative otherwise is that it's full of St. Albans people (with it being in St. Albans...) - the whole point of living in St. Albans seems to be seeing how quickly and often you can get the words 'St. Albans' into the conversation, as loudly as possible. That's not the restaurant's fault tho.

Visited Sunday at 1pm. packed to the rafters with families which shows it is obviously a popular and family friendly place. However,

Negatives:

When you go for lunch as a duo (couple or friends), you shouldn't be squeezed between two families of 8.. The noise was quite overbearing at times. One of the wine glasses was dirty, and the waiter was trying to take our order before we had a chance to look at the menu.

Positives:

The food was delicious although we asked for more bread. As the two bread sticks were not ebough. The Antipasti vegetarian Plank for 2 was not really enough for 2 but it was very tasty. the wine was nice, the coffee good (no sprinkles on Cappucino was a bit disappointing) and the servers were all really good.

Would I go back? Yes if they seperated an area for those not with children or large groups.

Returned here with friends as we had enjoyed our previous visits, great service from our waitress & enjoyed the gold card taster vegetable soup. The special giant pork chop was certainly giant & full of flavour and served on a bed of celeriac purée with funky chips & dressed salad. My husband had the trout special, he said the trout & mussels were lovely but the squid was very chewy and the fish was really overloaded with Chilli which spoilt it and he did not eat it all. We were given free mini mince pies for having a Jamie gold card & they came out out - beautiful warm pastry & freezing cold centres! It was very busy in there & until it cleared out we could not hear the background music so loud was the chatter.

This restaurant was average at best and expensive for what it was. For that sort of money I would expect white tablecloths on the table, not noisy and cafe style. More of a lunch place really. I had Sucilian chicken which was tasteless and one piece was fatty. Hubby had steak which was also tasteless. You also have to pay for side dishes with some orders. Wouldn't go again.

Me and my partner visited Jamie's Italian yesterday afternoon. On arriving we were seated very quickly, we were disappointed that the set menu advertised outside the restaurant wasn't available until the following day evening (Sunday). I found this misleading as it gives potential customers the wrong information.

We ordered and only one starter arrived, after speaking to a waiter the other started finally arrived, it meant we ate our starters separately 😕 The starters were very nice though !

We waited a very long time for the mains, which did arrive at the same time 👍 Throughout the meal we were very cold as the main door wasn't screened and it was very uncomfortable. Service was slow and disjointed which was a shame. £80 bill for a late lunch which I thought was a lot.

Would visit again but during the week for the set menu and better service 🤞
