Went with the family, Josh our server was excellent and the food was great

Went here last night. I have to say was not my first choice of places to go. We had a lovely meal. The service was very good. The waitress went out of her way to answer any questions we had about the menu. And I had an enjoyable evening. I would definately return. Thank you jamies Italian. X

We stopped off and had a meal sat outside with our dog stamp. The food felt fresh and stamp was made a fuss of by the staff!! Definitely worth the star rating i gave it.

User

We shared a couple of bottles of wine sat in the beautiful courtyard in the sunshine. A lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff.

Had a meal hear on Sunday the 22nd. Me and my husband had a really lovely time. The lady serving us was very attentive and nice. The food was lovely and will most definitely be returning in the future.

User

Lovely food as you would expect from such a culinary establishment, pleasant atmosphere and very friendly staff. If i do have one thing to say it would be that i thought staff at times were to attentive, you didn't seem to get alot of time to enjoy your food/drinks before they were on top of you for more drinks, etc. Its not a bad thing, but felt if and when i was ready to order further items i would have asked. It did not however take away the overall enjoyable experience

Enjoyed our visit to Jamie’s York. Friendly waitress, who was happy and always smiling. The courses were prompt and we enjoyed everything we had.

One small gripe was the table felt a little sticky, like it needed a wipe. Overall we enjoyed our experience and would visit again.

We visited Jamie's whilst having a weekend away in the lovely York. We reserved a table and staff were very friendly, the place looked lovely inside too. The menu however was very limited and in my opinion overpriced. My partner had seafood linguine and it looked dry, not creamy as you would expect a linguine to be. The pasta was also crunchy! Not too our taste. Scallop starter was tasty. I had a chicken dish which was tasty but nothing special. Portions were quite small. Service was pretty slow too. It's nice to try new places, but don't think we will be coming back.

We hadn’t been for a couple of years but it’s really not the great experience I remember ...the menu is so limited now and all a bit over cooked.

It’s such a shame I was really looking forward to the unusual bruschetta toppings and stuffed pasta. I had bolognese in the end which I cook better

Never had a bad meal at Jamie’s in Harrogate but sadly this has closed and unfortunately the York one is nowhere near as good. Our main course came as we were still eating the starters and mine looked and tasted as though it had been waiting at the service point a while. Seafood linguini that was dried out with hardly any sauce. The only seafood it contained was prawns. Portion size was tiny. I am only a small eater so ordered a small but it was more like a child’s portion. My husband had the lasagne which he enjoyed but again the portion was small. I cannot fault the waiter who offered to replace my meal but I was very disappointed. As gold card holders we got a good deal but I would rather have good food. Come on Jamie you can do better than that!

We went to Jamie's Italian in York on Friday, having looked at the menu and being a Jamie Oliver restaurant, we had high hopes and expectations. So we decided to have our lunch there. They had a 2 course deal for £11.95 so I chose the bruschetta and tagliatelle and another family member chose the deep fried squid and also the tagliatelle. The toast for the bruschetta was hard and dry and felt like it has been left out too long so I sent it back. Second one came, it was ok but I wouldn't say they toasted it fresh. The squid had far too much batter on and was tasteless. The pasta dish tasted ok but small. My son has a dairy and egg allergy. I asked the waiter which items on the children's menu were suitable. He came back with a few options so chose the chicken lollipops. My daughter had spaghetti and meatballs. My daughter said the spaghetti was nice but the chicken lollipops were really dry and overlooked. The kids meal was meant to come with a salad but never arrived. Overall I wouldn't go back. There are far better other Italian eateries in York that have much better quality and value. being a Jamie Oliver brand, expectations were high and we were highly disappointed. The chefs need extra training to a more higher standard. But the waiting staff were friendly and very accommodating.

We arrived just before 9pm expecting it to be very busy, when we entered we thought it was about to close as no staff / people were around at all but then a man came down the stairs and said if you want the restaurant it's upstairs. We went upstairs and it was almost deserted but decided to stay and we were shown to a table and there was only 4 other tables occupied.

We were seen to very quickly and asked if we could use a groupon voucher and he said yes but you have to use another menu which was fine, we were then told the steak was off.

The food came quite quickly but we felt it was lacking in presentation, a bit or salad on the side would have made all the difference.

We finished our starters and we're quickly served our mains which again were lacking in presentation. By this time staff were coming through clearly fishing for the night and the rest of the customers had left leaving just us here. We had only been there just over 1/2 an hour and they were clearing all the tables around us and clearing wanting to get an early dart, this made us feel uncomfortable and we shortly left rushing our drinks.

We feell the whole place felt unloved and needed a bit TLC. The toilets were ok but again needed a bit of TLC.

The waiter that served us was very pleasant but we did feel rushed and did not enjoy our experience in Jamies in York which was a shame as we have been to a few different Jamies before and have had a totally different experience.

Real Shame as was looking forward to our evening.

I booked a table for 2 for Valentine’s Day over a month before we planned to eat, and when we arrived we were made to wait over 40 minutes past our reservation time. We were served a drink while we waited by an over-worked bar man who was alone despite 5 other couples also waiting for drinks. When we were directed upstairs to our table, there were (I counted) 5 other tables that were unoccupied. The food was okay, it was our first time at the York branch having eaten numerous times in the Cambridge/Birmingham branch I know this was not even close to normal standards. The saving grace was our lovely waitress who worked very hard all night. We will look to eat elsewhere in future, maybe the sun has set on the ‘Jamie’s Italian’ trend....?

User

Had the set menu which only has about 5 choices on it. This was made worse by the fact one of them wasn’t available. Next to add insult to injury they had run out of Peroni!!!

I found the portion sizes quite small and more a child’s sized meal.

I went away hungry even though we had 3 courses and although the taste of the food was fine I was disappointed

User

Food not good smmall portions and expensive for what you get.Waiter said they dont serve rose wine or sweet wine but clearly said on the menu that they did. My husband makes far better food on a week night coming home from work.

User

Came here this afternoon, staff were lovely and attentive however food wasnt fantastic.

Very small portions and overpriced. Also £9:20 for a merlot was well overpriced.

Sorry but wont be visiting, very disappointing

User

Well it’s obviously a franchise, if not I would be embarrassed to be Jamie. We’ve had a perfect weekend in York and Saturday at Jamie’s Italian nearly ruined it. We were in and out in 55mins, we sat down ready to order a drink & have a romantic evening, prompt service for our orders.

Within in minutes we had our drinks and bang started served, tasteless bruschetta & thinly cut scallops. Service removed starter plates whilst still drinking G&T, so we were 15 mins in, main meals arrived so quickly ordered a glass of red to compliment my main meal.

I ordered the premium priced matured sirloin 23/33day

hung, sorry what a load of rubbish I Left half as it was inedible due to not fat but gristle loads, a poor choice, my partner ordered the special carbonara, absolutely over loaded with pepper!! So yep totally dissatisfied £70 I suppose the fries were alright. Not recommended in any way shape or form😩😩

User

We went to Jamie’s Italian York today. We were very disappointed! Over cooked squid, undercooked chicken (it was pink/raw in the middle horrible stringy bad cheap bit of meat) , chewy steak, over cooked fries and very poor kids meals too, dry chicken lollipops (very over cooked in complete contrast to my raw chicken dish!)with sour cream? What kid likes sour cream! Kids pizza had a very strong flavoured cheese on it certainly not to any of my 3 children’s taste (they all tried it and all said it was gross). Completely over priced drinks- water £4!! Really? Anyhow Best of all was we got charged £58 for the privilege of a shit meal with a brand name........The waiter offered to get the manager but to be honest with 3 disappointed and still hungry kids the last thing I wanted was to wait around for a manager.

User

Very disappointed. we went for my husband birthday as a treat but we was very disappointed the food was slow at coming out. Luckily we was got starters the plank sharer and cheese croquet which were delicious but that’s where the quality ended sadly. 3 of us had special steak which was warm not hot and chewy. I cooked best steak myself from Aldi. 1 of us had pasta which was uncooked hard and stuck to your teeth. We did complain about pasta and they did offer to cook it again but we didn’t want to wait again. We definitely won’t go again
