Dustin busy 'helping' feed the cows. We've not had the best winter weather wise and the cows have chosen the shed over being outside the majority of the time.
We've been trying our best to complete some winter jobs including installing rainwater harvesting tanks, improving the yard surface, installing gates for the handling system and erecting fencing.
We're looking forward to a busy 2018 and will have regular beef available from the spring onwards, something that we have been working towards by building the herd up for the past 5 years. #Piemontese #Healthy #Beef

A Cornish granite rubbing post. The cows love a good scratch. Not many left standing, lucky to have several in our pasture fields. #grassfed https://t.co/c0NMylTVcV

#Harvest18 seed being cleaned today. Graham wheat & Mascani oats. Now all we need is some dry weather to get drilling. @SouthWestSeeds 🚜 https://t.co/8nLYRMI8UV

So with all this rain I am living in waterproofs and wellies. The cows are spending most of their time against a hedge for shelter and I feel they are envious of my warm, dry feet. Winter really has come early! The fields are waterlogged and the cattle are being moved to fresh grass every few days to avoid poaching. We are already getting the sheds prepared and unless we get a prolonged dry spell soon the cattle will be coming in out of the weather. #rain #whenwillitstop Rockfish

Quite a surprise.....we've been nominated and shortlisted for the South West Farmer Awards...3 times!
Jenny's Beef Ltd is in the running for Beef Farmer, my husband Joe is up for Arable Farmer and jointly we are shortlisted for Family Farm! We are looking forward to an enjoyable evening off at the awards event.
Nice to also see our local and very supportive agricultural merchant Cornwall Countryside Supplies on the list.

We love baby calves! The Piemontese calves recently born on farm are out in the field with their mums and will stay with them until the spring. We also have some new arrivals today from a local dairy farm for rearing. These will have regular, nutritious milk feeds until they are ready for weaning. We ensure they are eating enough fodder and supplementary hard feed, and check that they have gained sufficient weight before weaning off milk. Once weaned, if the weather permits before winter sets in, they will join the other young stock out in the field.

Lots of public interest about British farming at Countryfile Live. Delighted to have been able to talk to people about our fantastic industry and how we care for our animals and environment. #teambeef #backbritishfarming #askthefarmer
