Jerry, the joint proprietor of “Jerry’s” started the shop in 1982 helped by Mary the other joint proprietor. Jerry, a qualified electrician, suffered a totally unexpected stroke at the age of 23 after which he had to completely rebuild his life. Because Jerry no longer had (has) any motive use of his right arm and leg he could no longer work as an industrial electrician and, with the help of Mary, set up “Jerry’s”. It started off as a very small operation with only a small, limited stock and doing repairs of all electrical goods thus making use of Jerry’s qualifications. Mary then joined Jerry and expanded the business. Andy, a qualified electronics engineer, joined the shop full-time in 1999, after many years of part-time support, and is key to the continued success of the operation.
