Yesterday I saw the general exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, today I went back for the 'Masters of Modern Art from the Hermitage' exhibition. 🖼 A wonderful exhibition with some amazing pieces. The gallery allows non flash photography so I was able to capture the highlights, which I can learn from for many years hopefully. To get up close and personal with these was inspiring.
Here's a little taster of the greats, including: Manguin, Derain, Picasso, Kandinsky, Monet, Signac, Cezanne, Matisse, and many more.

Bondi Beach = beautiful 🇦🇺
It's been real windy today so we didn't have a swim. A beer looking over this amazing view was a nice alternative.

Comparisons of the latest Prince painting against the original reference photo. . I could only find very low resolution copies of the original photo, which was one of the main challenges I faced as most of his face showed hardly any detail or even tonal range, especially when blown up as large as the canvas. . Side-by-side there are clear differences, over just the colour changes, but all are very subtle. In some ways the painting looks more like him than the photo to me 🤔🤔 What do you think?

It's been a long journey to complete this painting, but thanks to some very understanding clients I've been able to take my time and persevere until it felt "right".
I learnt a hell of a lot, mainly things I thought I knew but didn't, and hopefully no painting will ever take this long again... but it was worth it.

Finally finished this double portrait - definitely something I won't be doing again! 😂
Whilst it was an interesting exercise doing the exact same picture twice was a huge pain in the ass!
No real room to get in the flow and follow your instincts cos whatever you do had to be duplicated 😫
... The fact that my reference was the tiny passport photo you see at the top left didn't help either 😂
Oh well, done now.

FINISHED!! 🎉🎉🎉 It took a little but longer than expected but the final result is great. . The team and staff at Silk Rd Liverpool looked after me very well and I highly recommend a trip for the food, or just a drink. They'll be opening the outside shortly and are planning to add a roof as well, so it should be nice in the colder weather too.... . After trying a new technique with stencils for the Sagres UK logo it's come out really well and adds to the overall design.
