John Oliver - An Extraordinary Life Description

Owen John Oliver (1925 - 1914) or JOLIVER was an extraordinary man who I've had joy to know for 45 years. He was born with out hands and only one normal foot . He defied all predictions to become not only independent but very skilled in a number of different areas.
He received an Art Degree and was a painter; he learnt to be a chef ; worked in Horticulture and sailed solo. For the last 50 years of his life lived and worked on the river Medway at Rochester with his tug HOBBIT. His helpful nature , wit and good humour were remembered as much as his unusual physical skills . Since he died in 2014 I've been researching and writing a book about him , with his permission . Interviewing his many friends has been fascinating and revealing.

I'm now seeking the last illusive piece in this fascinating jigsaw puzzle- his own paintings-possibly in Cornwall. I need to raise funds for research / travel and publication costs. You can help byfunding an advance copy of the book (incl P& P) for £20, or donate more if you would like to be acknowledged as a donor in the book .
Please follow the progress of the research through my blogs on the website www. ojoliverbook.org
To raise money for the book I am delighted to give a power point photo presentation and talk about John's extraordinary life. in your area . I am an experienced presenter /trainer , and talks so far have been sold out ! see Events on this page for future talks already planned - there may be one in your area .
Thanks if you have LIKED this page - and please pass on the information and photos to your friends, Hope to hear from you if you have your own story about Joliver - Best wishes
