In 2004, John decided to walk away from a life working in the City of London, to pursue his dream of a creative career working in horticulture and in particular, garden design.

While initially working as a maintenance gardener in his horticultural services business Blue Gerbera Horticulture Ltd, he studied garden design both independently and at renowned horticultural institutions, Capel Manor College, and the Oxford College of Garden Design. Working in 'real' gardens, with plants and clients on a daily basis allowed John to observe how plants and gardens work in the real world for the average client; an experience it's almost impossible to gain fully when simply sat behind a drawing board. In 2006 John received his first large-design commission which cemented his desire to forge a career in garden design.

Over a decade later, and with garden design being now John's soul focus, the practice continues to grow and John marked his ten year anniversary not only with the co-design of an award winning show garden for BBC Gardeners World Live, but also by receiving recognition of his work from the Society of Garden Designers and achieving pre-registered membership of the society.

John undertakes a variety of commissions from planting design work, through to full garden design projects. He credits the inspiration for his contemporary style from designers such as Luciano Giubbilei and Andy Sturgeon, as well as figures in the art and fashion world such as Paul Smith and Henry Moore.
