What a fantastic place this is! We took our group of Rainbows here for a end of term trip! Not only did they provide catering services after hours, they put on a tractor ride round the farm and and excellent woodland walk! The girls had a fabulous time. Was fantastic to see the girls learning about where their food comes from, from such a passionate local farmer. They even refunded us the small charge they made which was so generous of them - can not thank them enough what a fantastic place a fantastic team can not recommend it highly enough - THANK YOU FROM ALL ST IVES 3rd RAINBOWS

User

We ordered buffet food for a large family party and from the first enquiry phone call to collection all the staff were amazing and very helpful. As for the food ... cooked meats, quiches, pork pie and scotch eggs which all was commented on by our guests.

User

We had the Sunday carvery with the family celebrating my husbands birthday- fabulous food, great place can't wait to go back and try their steaks - service was excellent too!

User

Visited from North Yorkshire with my Mum who lives locally.

It was a beautiful sunny day, although chilly with a bit of a soggy car park - don’t wear nice suede heels like I did DOH!

Were greeted by a pure white bunny rabbit, then spotted a rhea/ostrich, some deer, few donkeys, various birds and a stunning peacock!

I hadn’t realised we were going to see animals when Mum suggested we popped out for a spot of lunch - this was a nice surprise. We then saw some crocodiles, geese and parrots behind the Tea Room but it was too muddy/slippy to go on the walk and look at the other animals as I had heels on.

This is my new favourite American style steak restaurant!

We were greeted by a lovely guy called Andy Walker who seated us in a large booth, he continued to look after us during our visit and was extremely helpful, friendly and chatty.

Ladies loo was absolutely freezing though, a heater in there would be nice.

Our food was outstanding, best skin on chips ever, massive portions and value for money.

The Farm Shop was amazing and I couldn’t resist making a few purchases, including coffee logs for my log burner.

So our “popping out for a quick lunch” turned into a 2.5hr outing and an enjoyable one too.

Will certainly return next time I’m down visiting Mum and will bring my wellies so I can properly explore.

User

Visited for crocodiles and other animals, great half day out :) nice cafe too.

User

They have a wonderful range of sausages, pork and black pudding being up there with them all.

User

Really nice place.

Very nice Sunday lunch, followed by a nice look around the farm shops and a wonderful walk taking in all the animals birds ect.

Finishing of with tea and cake in their coffee shop.

User

Really lovely place. Went for a wonder round on my birthday. Farm shop has lovely stuff. Got some fantastic meat from the butchers section, the sausages were particularly nice. It is a little on the expensive size but the quality is amazing so it is worth it.

Tea room is lovely. I had a cream tea, will be returning to try the afternoon tea and the steakhouse sometime in the future.

User

Lovely farm with a lovely tea room and farm shop. Birds, ducks, crocs, peacocks, noisy turkeys, donkeys and deer. Great day out for all the family.

User

Love this shop and visit regularly however completely blown away today by the tastiness of your bourbon burgers! I’ve just BBQ’ d them in the rain!!

User

Just back from a carvery followed by brownie and ice cream. Food amazing, service amazing, will be back for sure :-)

I have been recommended and encouraged by good friends to experience the Steakhouse at Johnsons of Old Hurst, of which our family chose to do for a special occasion this week. I have to say that having been somewhat disillusioned over a period of time with the chain style restaurant, this venue proved to be totally unique in the most positive of ways. I understand that the fayre is all in house produced and it was a great pleasure to taste food of the highest quality and indeed how meat should actually taste. The staff were consistently friendly and non overbearing in their approach, our meals were delivered quicker than anticipated and the chef was outstanding in his meal preparation. The restaurant itself is light and airy with plenty of room between tables, the facilities being brand new were fabulous and the prices generous in respect of the high quality delivered. Our friends had travelled quite some distance to join us and left feeling that the 100 mile journey had been more than worthwhile, asking "when are we coming here again"? I returned the next day to shop for similar meats available within the farm shop whereby I was astounded once again by the quality and selection available. I can highly recommend to anyone who wishes to experience high quality at respectable prices and definitely a friendly family run business with the family experience at heart. Thank you all at Johnsons of Old Hurst, we very much look forward to returning again and again. Highly recommended and definitely the destination of choice for quality value and service. A********

I first paid Johnson’s a visit when they held the St Ives motorbike show two weeks later came back with the wife by car about an hours drive well worth the effort . We enjoyed the woodland walk and looking at the various animals and birds worked up an appetite and the cafe didn’t let us down one of the best ploughman’s I have had in a long while . Although busy the staff cleaned the tables very quickly and generally great service the on site butchers is well worth a visit fantastic selection of food at reasonable prices

Now my grandchildren are on holiday I am planning another visit as I know they will enjoy Johnson’s as much as we did . So glad you held the motorbike show !

User

Great Easter hunt today Thankyou! So much fun. The children loved their eggs. It was very muddy but we knew it would be so came in our wellies. Great carvery & service . xx

Fantastic place best farm shop for miles.. tea shop and steak house are fabulous

User

Visited today, had a lovely lunch and kids enjoyed running around in sunshine! Just one question please can you put some signs up around the animals so that we know what they are please? Just a simple picture and breed sign would be great thanks!

User

It's such a shame I have to rate this as a 4 as wanted to give it a 5 but no picnics allowed only use cafe or steak house won't get many takers as cafes to expensive and so is the steak house especially if your on a low income people can't afford these prices won't be visiting as often as would like too which is such a shame as only 20 25 mins drive from home don't get me wrong but a lovely place to visit
