User

Went for breakfast and the food was delicious! We were served by Jack (the manager) who was so friendly and helpful. He also has an impressive memory as he took our order without writing it down and remembered everything! Lol!

The waitress who cleared our table was really friendly too and when I was doing a (very bad) donkey impression the chef joined in, thinking I was being Michael Jackson! 😂 Would definitely recommend the restaurant to everyone!

User

We went to the Jolly Postie for lunch for my daughter’s and dad’s birthday. Great customer service from a young gentleman (sorry, didn’t get his name) who gave us time to order our food and didn’t rush us. He was helpful throughout our meal and joked with our daughter and made her smile. The food was delicious and the children were able to take home their leftover pizza. We’ll definitely be back.

User

We had Sunday lunch here yesterday and I can't think of anything to say apart from superb, staff, service, waiting time ,food ,atmosphere ,everything!

Visited today for my dad's 75th birthday. As a retired postman he absolutely loved his surprise meal in the post van.!! Good was great and staff were so friendly and helpful. Thank you for making his day extra special...we will be back and before it's his 80th.!!!

User

This was the second year my family, and I have had Christmas lunch at The Jolly Postie in Royston, we enjoyed it so much last year we had no hesitation in booking it up again. I was slightly concerned it would not be as goody this year, but I need not have worried it was excellent. Piping hot, well presented, and very tasty. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a restaurant for a superb Christmas lunch out, you will not be disappointed.

User

This place is fantastic lovely friendly staff great food and music just all round fab place highly recommend x

User

Thank you Jolly Postie - Royston. My son celebrated his 7th birthday with a meal in the post van last night with his friends. The food was lovely and the staff did a fantastic job at making his special day go smoothly, which was very much appreciated.

User

Loved the place.service was good, food was excellent, prices reasonable.

User

Love your Sunday roast.

And Yorkshire to die for

User

Having been let down elsewhere, the staff here fitted us in for dinner today at the last minute. Really helpful staff, delicious roast dinner and great service! Will definitely be back!

User

Have been to the Jolly Postie several times, mostly birthdays etc. The last visit was once again excellent. Seated quickly by the waitress, orders taken quickly, drinks arrived after only a couple of minutes wait. Food was excellent once again, we had a bit of a mixture such as hunters chicken pizza, mixed grill, scampi etc. Waitress was polite, helpful and friendly as they all have been on previous visits. Wouldn't hesitate to visit again and again.

User

Had a lovely meal here last night for my partners birthday they were very accommodating as there was 8 of us in total and I left to the last minute to book but staff were very friendly and helpful excellent food thoroughly enjoyed by the whole party will definitely be back again

User

Had a lovely Sunday lunch in here yesterday, waitress was really polite and friendly, the quality of the food put some other pubs in the town to shame, thoroughly recommend.

User

Great atmosphere, come here whenever we go out for a meal. Few more veggy options would be nice but the meals are always delicious.

User

First time there with family. Service was very good but most of all was the food. It was fantastic!! We had starters, main and puddings.Beautiful flavours and very well presented. we will all very definitely come here again. Thank you so much from Steve, Paula & Owen....👍😁😁😁

User

Excellent service and very pleasant staff, went there for my nieces 20 birthday meal which was amazing, food was great with a extensive menu choice (for meat eaters) however very few vegetarian options, although majority of our party were meat eaters and thoroughly enjoyed the food. Sundaes a real treat with proper Mister Whippie ice cream, definetly going back there,

User

Don't live nearby but was in the local area due to a dance festival my daughters were in. Booked for 13 including my daughters and friends. Lots of hyper 5 to 10 year olds. Service was quick and patient. Food was lovely. Great ambiance and atmosphere. My only complaint (very minor) is that my portion size could've been bigger - although that could have been cos I was so hungry!

Would definitely come again if in the area.

User

Brilliant time at the Jolly Postie for my birthday lunch today. We loved sitting in the post van and the food was lovely as always and we were impressed with the very attentive service!

User

Been here twice now on our way back from a day out lovely place fantastic food and great staff who don't hassle you whilst you are eating would highly recommend this eaterie to any one of our friends

User

Attentive staff, great food, excellent beer, and the postie van with a dining table in the back. Awesome!

User

Always love to have a breakfast here and also serve a very refreshing Gin, staff are always helpful

User

A group of 4 of us went to the jolly postie on valentine's Day. We thoroughly enjoyed the special menu and would recommend the pinksters gin Sundae. We are regular customers and always enjoy the food and friendly service. Maria and Jack in particular go the extra mile to ensure we have a great time.

User

Had some lunch with hubby before getting the coach to football ;had starter main and dessert; all delicious and served quickly, good service ,nice music in background.

User

Great place with a good menu and friendly staff

User

Great food, shame it took a little while to be seated, was with a friend that was 37 weeks pregnant, chips could be cooked in less fat as they looked a bit too greasy, service was not really on par with some members of staff but i think if they had a section of the restaurant to themselves then this would be less stressful for the staff - therefore increasing the level of service one gets.

User

Food was great! Great selection of veggie options but we paid £5-£6 for a cocktail that came out in a tiny glass! Could hardly taste the alcohol - felt abit ripped off!

User

Always have a lovely time, staff are pleasant and do their best ( I always ask for booth) 9/10 they fulfill.

Foods good

User

Went for dinner after a long journey. Had had a couple of reasonable meals there before. Place was quite empty but seemed like they wanted to keep everyone in the same area. The waitress was going to put us right beside a quite noisy table until we asked to sit somewhere else. Sat for ages with no-one coming to ask if we wanted a drink. The waitress finally arrived and apologised when we mentioned the other waitress who seemed to spend most of her time talking to the noisy table who were obviously friends of hers and ignored everyone else. Food was ok shame about the poor service.

User

I used to come here for breakfast quite a bit. Being bank holiday weekend I tried having breakfast on Sunday, I was told it was too late, because they only do breakfast until 11 on weekends, I was 20 minutes late so fair enough. I looked up the times and breakfast is served until 11 om weekends and 12 on weekdays. I came back at 10:57 on Bank holiday Monday to be told we're not doing breakfasts because we've had a couple of big groups in. How's that my fault? I looked at the website and it doesn't say anything about bank holiday breakfast times being the same as the weekends. To be honest sunday we went to the old bull in where we had a great breakfast and now I'm sitting in the quiet, warm garden of the royston wetherspoons enjoying breakfast.

User

Booked a table 4 fathers day arrived 10 mins early which was fine after 20 mins and now people arriving after us they were having their drinks orders taken after a while no one coming over 2 take r drinks order i had 2 ask a member of staff 2 do so which it took another 10 mins 2 get r drinks and 4 children getting very hot a bothered we finally got r drinks I then had 2 ask the lady who was doing r table so we could order r food to which she had 2 find out then came over 2 take r food order after then waiting 25 min my food came 2 which the lady took my order wrong 2 then having 2 wait again another 15 mins and the rest of the table having 2 wait 2 get theirs. no 1 said was going 2 take so long other wise would have just eatten what they gave me I had 4 very hungry children their dad very hungry us all hot an bothered it felt like we was in their 4 ages and was really annoying have 2 b asked 2 b served their was lot of staff in not alot of customers in we was in thier 4 1hr 40 mins. Servise is rubbish but the food isn't 2 bad if ur prepared 2 wait a while

User

30th Birthday treat for my daughter.

Warm and inviting pub with friendly staff.

My disappointment was regarding the food, warm bread starter was two half cut rolls in my opinion, also lacking some balsamic in the oil.

Child's pizza was nice apparently but lacking a little garnish or sprinkling of fries, also £2 For a small carton of Apple juice also no kids pack forthcoming for a 6 year old. We played cards . Daughter had butternut lasagne with salad, nice she said. Wife had pizza, nice though no salad garnish . I had burger, not great size for a restaurant burger and a tad over cooked, with small portion of fries and no salad garnish whatsoever . These things seem to small to bring up to a member of staff and make the family feel uncomfortable. Still had a great family evening.

User

Went to the Postie on Thursday for my Hubby s Birthday lovely Starters Main and Desserts brilliant food very well presented service quick and food lovely and Hot Waitress was lovely and very chatty great atmosphere really enjoyed our evening and will be booking again to take our Friends here x

User

Shocking service, waitresses tone very alarming, to the point of being rude, took nearly an hour for food to arrive, and was very bland, won't be rushing back

User

Service was slow all be it waitress very pleasant .food not good .pizza all black on bottom grandson would not eat it .burger not good .didn't hang around for desert

User

Rainy Saturday in Royston..no lunchtime reservation made, asked for table for 5 for eating..no tables at present but some would be clearing in next 20 mins..we waited at bar area and had to ask 2 or 3 times having seen people leave and no one clearing tables. At point of walking out a table was ready. Not overly impressed with menu...had spit roast chicken with jacket potato and slaw...chicken I thought was the feature food..but big let down..the service was slow..as if the staff were on a go slow..food was piling up at the pass. ..not only my list to return..injection of personality and customer service needed..plus food needs to be cooked fresh and served direct from the passport nor to sit under the heat lamps for 10 mins. .

User

I’ve been here several times for food and it’s been ok, but today was a bit of a let down and it feels like it’s going downhill a bit. I ordered the rosemary and buttermilk chicken burger and was disappointed to find there was hardly any chicken inside the coating. It was pretty greasy, made even worse by the fact it was clearly over cooked. Service was really slow too, and in the end we didn’t stay for dessert. The other two people with me had meals that were ok, but we were all a bit disappointed given we’d been a few times before and it had been much better.

User

Food came fast and was good, the service was extremely poor.

Me and two friends went there at 3pm Saturday, we were shown to our table by the host who was polite and accommodating. We were then served by what has to be one of the most miserable waitresses ever, she did not crack a smile or change the tone of her voice once during our entire visit.

The food came out quickly enough, but there was no table check back done (the food was good, but I wanted another drink). After waiting about 15 minutes for our plates to be cleared we decided we wanted desserts. We waited ages for the waitress to come back so we could say we were interested in desserts. Eventually she did so and brought the menus over. After bringing the dessert menu over we waited another 25 minutes for her to come and take our order before we gave up, got up and went to pay at the bar. It was the same lacklustre waitress who took our payment, and again there was no smile, no attempt to ask how our meal was, nothing.

I've worked as a waitress for years, so I know what the basic requirements for service are, and these were not met. The restaurant was not busy, there were only three other tables sat in our side of the restaurant. They were not understaffed, there were three waiting staff, a blonde in a grey jumper and the host wandering around. I would just say this is basic lack of training and effort on the part of the staff and needs addressing.

The front of house staff are seriously letting the kitchen down, who as I said, produced nice food quickly.

User

Always visited the jolly postie when in laws are up. Was son's 5th birthday today we booked the van. Mother in law starter had to go back burnt and no sauce. Mains children had cheesy pasta very dry and lack of sauce. Mother in law main salmon very hard and dry almost inedible. I had ribs that were burnt and very dry had to ask for extra bbq sauce. We didnt bother with desert. Waitress was very nice and the assistant manager did give 20% discount off bill. But overall a very poor meal from a place we enjoyed going to.

User

What a let down today! 5 of us for my dads birthday meal!!!!! (with family visiting from Brighton) We chose to take them here as it's normally quite good. But this time it was abysmal!!! The food was not up to scratch at all. The lamb shank was rank - so fatty! (Not just one opinion) I wouldn't have fed it to my cat. My beef was cheap and nasty too. Veg was microwaved and potatoes had been sat for some time the only decent bit was the Yorkshire and the cauli cheese. We should have said something or asked for a discount/refund but we aren't those type of people. A meal for 5 isn't cheap! We just won't be coming back......

User

The food was not up to scratch at all. The lamb shank was rank - so fatty! (Not just one opinion) I wouldn't have fed it to my cat. My beef was cheap and nasty too. Veg was microwaved and potatoes had been sat for some time the only decent bit was the Yorkshire and the cauli cheese. We should have said something or asked for a discount/refund but we aren't those type of people. A meal for 5 isn't cheap! We just won't be coming back......
