^^New for 2015: Our First Ever Ready to Wear Shirt Collection^^
Please be upstanding for our brand new shirt collection. Made from the renowned Thomas Mason Zephir 100 cotton for superior drape, finish and performance, this collection of four shirts offers our gentlemen options for casual and business wear.
All four have single cuffs which can be fastened in two ways: either with the button or by using the twin buttonholes and a cuff link. The white and pale blue are cut with a classic collar and no placket, while the mid blue and cobalt have a shorter collar and placket. Finished with Mother of Pearl buttons, the shirts are cut in Mr Quearney's signature modern, slim fit.

Gentleman's Wardrobe Essentials No.3: The Overcoat.
The column inches in magazines and mannequins in shop windows confirm what we always knew- a chap's annual coat purchase is one of the biggest decisions in his sartorial year. Can it be worn with suits and jeans? Full length or mid thigh? Black, navy or grey?
The key here is versatility, and we feel that ignoring passing trends is vital. This navy blue single breasted, soon-to-be three buttoned coat with a 19" single vent... sits on the knee. The Dugdale all wool 21oz (640g) cloth is formal enough to wear with suits and the simplicity of the styling means it will breeze through the weekend.
A must have.

The Finished Article:
The keen eyed among you will recognise this jacket from our post on August 13th when it was still in the process of being made. We're delighted to show it off in its completed glory. Even the weather has paid its respect by changing on time!
The eagled eyed will admire the different buttoning options and will recall our post from September 1st: all three buttons can be fastened and the lapel is made to allow for a smooth drape to each button. Which makes this a most versatile addition to any man's wardrobe.

Feeling the chill? Porter & Harding's 180z (560g) Thornproof is a firm favourite of ours. Initially used by gamekeepers, the cloth stopped them being stabbed by thorns as the performed their work. This salt and pepper effect of the donegal tweed lends a more urban feel and can be worn as a jacket or a suit. It's also versatile enough to wear with everything from brogues to chelsea boots. We'll leave you to make up your own mind on the "brown in town" debate.

The Velvet Dinner Jacket: the time is now. Given the man hours and levels of handwork that go into our bespoke pieces, it's no surprise that our gentlemen have begun to think about their Christmas attire. Velvet jackets are commonly seen in black and midnight blue, but this bottle green really stands out from the crowd. Made from Holland & Sherry's 14oz cotton, this is a real head-turner for the festive season.

Gentleman's Wardrobe Essentials no.2: The Pocket Square. The effortless panache of a pocket square makes them popular with everyone from old school dandies to FTSE CEO's and we at Mr Q love what they add to our suits and jackets.
For this season we have procured 5 limited edition cloths from Bergamo, Italy which we chose ourselves for their handle, colour palette and exceptional patterns. The cloths are currently on display in our window and we'll soon hand them over to the tailor who will cut them, hand roll the edges and stitch them by hand to make an exquisite addition to every man's wardrobe.
We would love to hear what you think. Which one is your favourite??

The finishing: in the upper photo you can see the inside of the waistband in its uncompleted state following the fitting. Belt loops are unattached, the curtains of the waistband unfinished, the lining is tacked on. The lower photo is the completed trouser, including our label with the gentleman's name, order number and date typed using our c.1957 Imperial typewriter.

In this photo our trouser maker is cutting away from the fork of the right trouser leg. This creates more space in the left side of the fork to allow for the majority of men who dress to the left.

A number of our clients have expressed interest in the make process our garments undergo downstairs in the workshop here. This morning we began work on a pair of middle weight corduroy trousers.
The cloth is by Italian mill Cacciopoli, weighs 470g (16.5oz) and has been given the mill's "silky soft" finish for a less stiff handle and more vibrant colour. The burned orange colour will be ideal for the Autumn/Winter season.
To begin the cloth is doubled over so the left and ...right trouser legs- both front and rear- can be cut at the same time (picture 1). The paper pattern is laid on the cloth and the chalk line marked (picture 2). Once the pattern is removed the cloth is cut (picture 3) so that the four separate pieces of the trouser take shape (picture 4).
Note the 'grown on' pocket facing at the bottom of picture 4: this is a style feature of our bespoke trousers. It means that our outside leg seam finishes just under the front pocket, as was the tradition of fully bespoke trousers. We took great care to make sure that the nap of the corduroy runs in the same downward direction across all four panels.
