Jones & Sons

About Jones & Sons

Jones & Sons is a modern British Restaurant & Cocktail Bar on Arcola Street in Dalston, East London.

Jones & Sons Description

Jones & Sons is a classic British café, bar and restaurant open all day with a good choice of carefully sourced and prepared food

Housed in an old Victorian textile factory in Dalston now home to Cell Studios, Jones & Sons is the latest addition to the local landscape and aims to offer a haven for the more discerning Dalston diner. Open from 9am for breakfast with dinner served through to 10 /11pm, it’s a space to meet, eat, relax and also have the odd drink, where the speciality is quality, well-made British food, be that a sit down meal or a lunch grabbed from the deli counter at the bar.

Coffee comes from Monmouth and is served by baristas trained by coffee maven Tim Williams (from a vintage Faema machine that has to be seen for its beauty to be truly appreciated). All meat comes from local Well Street Butchers and is cooked to perfection on the imposing char-grill, centrepiece of the open kitchen. Steaks are thick, veggies are well catered for and the bar snacks are classic. All ales, bar the black stuff, are London brewed and include Meantime, uber-local Beavertown Brews from Duke’s Brew & Que and The Kernel. Whilst the owners have handpicked the wine menu, adding to the personal touches you’ll find throughout.

Jones & Sons –
A potted history

A blank canvas when they took over the keys, the brains behind Jones & Sons locked horns to push interior directions around the table. Remaining sympathetic to the buildings industrial heritage, but plucking influences from post war Danish design, commercial maritime salvage, and even classic Italian deli counter to take the form of a 12 foot high white and stainless steel pitched roofed kitchen that dominates the space; a cooking lodge housed within the white brick walls.

The oak clad bar supports 5. 2 metres of Cararra marble top and perfectly compliments the hand sourced mid-century Scandinavian style seating, whilst a leather banquette runs the length of the entire right hand wall. The attention to detail is everywhere with lights having been sourced from a marine salvage specialist in Exeter, a hand poured concrete / resin mix floor and a chef’s table for those wanting to get close to the action – the upshot being a very personal reflection of the vision of the people behind the place and the 200 artists and designers working inside the rest of the building

With space for 50 covers and offering a full table service, Jones & Sons is a break from the clamour of the vibrant late-night Kingsland Road institutions.

Jones & Sons is open daily from 9am-3pm for breakfast, brunch, lunch and takeaways from the deli. Dinner is served 6-10pm (6-11pm Friday & Saturday). Drinks, snacks and chat are available all day.

Andy Jones is the Managing Director of the restaurant and co-owner with business partners Priestley and Muritu, founders and directors of Cell Project Space and Studios, who are responsible for setting up and running artists’ studios in the same building and others in Arcola Street, and across east London since 2001, as a funding stream for their exhibitions programme at their Bethnal Green based Project Space.

What a find. Perfect location, fab food, fab service. Nothing was too much trouble. Relaxed but attentive service. Pitched just right. Must go back for the highly recommended Sunday roast.

User

Went for a roast with my wife and a friend. We were all blown away by the delicious food, gorgeous venue and great service.

I ordered a few sides but shouldn’t have bothered as the potions were huge. The Yorkshire’s are almost as big as your head! The restaurant kindly packaged a portion of cauliflower cheese up for me to take home as none of us could manage it!

We did manage to share a dessert between though. A sumptuous melty chocolate soufflé.

Will definitely be going back. Lovely way to while away a gloomy Sunday with friends

Visited the new restaurant in Angel for the first time after having visited their other Jones&Sons restaurant in Dalston.

I have to say, It did NOT disappoint!!! Amazing menu, especially being a vegetarian I found this to be one of the best (if not the best) menus I’ve been able to choose from, especially for Sunday roast.

I had the Veggie roast which was bloody amazing! Cocktails were equally as good and staff/service on point. Definitely worth a visit if in the area

User

The staff were lovely The roast dinners are absolutely delicious definitely be going back there again really enjoyed it and the staff are very warm and lovely

User

The staff are attentive, the food was great and a very happy relaxed atmosphere. Recommend this place for a get together with friends.

User

Thank you Jones and Sons for hosting our very high spirited Bottomless Brunch yesterday to celebrate a birthday.

Pretty hard to flaw this place with delicious meals with generous servings, plenty of choice on the menu and most importantly compliments to the bar tender for all the absolutely delicious Bloody Mary's that were consistently put in front of us.

The biggest compliment has to go our waiter who it shames me to say I do not remember his name (could have been something to do with the prompt cocktail replenishment's!) This quick witted and attentive host really made the difference in ensuring we were having a good time and making us feel comfortable even if we were getting a little bit clumsy by the end! Really great service though and got to love the banter and the Irish accent!

One thing I would suggest is maybe some soft furnishings in the room in which they are hosted as the atmosphere is a bit cold and the sound echos quite load. Was fine for us but maybe not for the other people trying to eat their lunch next to us.

Thanks guys you really made our day!

User

Our favourite restaurant in London! Top service beaten only by the food! Highly recommend to anyone that loves their food, cocktails and attentive service!

User

Had the bottomless brunch and was SO impressed. Just £36 a head. For a deal like that, you'd expect something to give (maybe reluctant top ups/service, food that looks like they just churn it out) but no, I could not fault it.

Drinks were topped up before you even knew you were running low. It was rammed and so busy but staff were still friendly and super quick to serve you. I managed to get 3 rounds of food in and some of my party even managed 4 (greedy). Everything was plated up beautifully, eggs were spot on. There was a cross over for Sunday lunch whilst we were there (which also looked incred) so it was amazing how faultless it all was.

We are definitely coming back, whether it's for a roast or brunch again, we're not quite sure

User

Had my Christmas party there last night. I would have to say it was fantastic. Staff were attentive and joined in the festive fun. We were allowed to have a live jazz band which was fantastic. The food menu was great with 3 course meal. Was so full I couldn't eat my dessert. Can't wait to return.....

User

Great food. Sensibly sized portions and kept the bottomless bucks fizz coming. Great atmosphere. Lovely staff.

User

Great atmosphere. Great staff. Lovely food. Will definitely be back.

User

Brilliant bottomless brunch! All food made to order, but quickly, you can comfortably fit in four courses if you're greedy like me! Special shout out to the French toast! Super attentive staff meant my glass never got empty. Really good value for money in my opinion as well! Would highly recommend.

User

Amazing place, food is excellent and lovely atmosphere as well as brilliant staff.highly recommend this place try the short ribs they are to die for

User

Absolutely brilliant! Service food everything xxx

User

AMAZING bottomless brunch with great quality Prosecco! Went on Sunday, 11am for two. The banana toffee waffles were amazing, as was the pancake and cooked breakfast but the highlight was the French toast with compote, cinnamony and delicious! Our waitress was excellent, attentive and kept our glasses full! Only downside was pain au chocolat which took over half an hour to arrive!

User

The food is good BUT the 2 hours for the all you can eat thing is not as good, they take 45 minutes for one order!! So do the math... and you can just order one dish at the time :/

User

I found the staff very easy going and friendly and decor is clean and retro. There are two areas, main area which is the livelier and more atmospheric part and then what I can only describe as a dining room where the feel is much more subdued and you kind of feel a little forgotten about. That being said the food is the main event and it is gorgeous. I had a Sunday roast, beef, and despite it being really yummy for me the beef was slightly too rare and no option of how you wanted it cooked was offered. That being said the food was excellent and I shall return for sure and try out some other dishes.

User

Tasty food, however wasn't lobster in mac and cheese, it's cray fish. Which is a little naughty to advertise it as that. Maybe change the name to seafood mac and cheese to save confusion! However staff were attentive and bloody Mary's were beaut. Small suggestion, maybe ask the customer on their spice levels before making them, as my friends spice tolerance wasn't up to scratch!! But overall, good 👌🏽

User

Small groups get great service, when coming with a bigger group the bottomless brunch is not really bottomless.
