Journalism At Staffordshire University Description

Welcome to the Staffordshire University School of Journalism.
Your exciting career as a journalist starts here!
Find out why studying one of our undergraduate or postgraduate journalism courses will be the stepping stone you need to a successful career in this incredible industry.
We know that the best way to learn how to be a great journalist is to do the job, so expect loads of practical experience and real-world work in a newsroom.
We offer the best accredited journalism degree courses in the UK, we offer trail-blazing tuition, and state-of-the-art facilities.
Selected courses are accredited by key industry bodies.
The National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) has accredited our BA (Hons) Journalism degree, BA Journalism Fas-Track degree, and MA Journalism degree.
The Broadcast Journalism Training Council (BJTC) has accredited our BA (Hons) Broadcast Journalism degree as well as our MA courses in Broadcast Journalism and Sports Broadcast Journalism.
And we are just one of four UK universities accredited by the European Journalism Training Association (EJTA), providing great exchange and collaboration possibilities for our students.
What does it all mean?
A headstart into industry and a guarantee successful students have the gold-standard qualifications.

All the lecturers who teach across our Journalism courses have been journalists themselves.
This means you will be being taught by industry trailblazers, who make sure they are up-to-date with changes.
Between us, we’ve done every job in a newsroom and we make sure our students can be employable, multi-platform operators when they graduate.
We listen to student feedback and take on board your comments.
In 2015, our BA (Hons) Journalism course got 100% satisfaction in the National Student Survey.
And our courses always score highly in the DLHE (Destination of Leavers from HE) survey as so many of our students are employed within 6 months of graduation.

Staffordshire University’s Journalism department has three newsrooms, fully-equipped with the latest technology and a full-functioning TV studio /gallery.
Our StaffsLive newsroom is dedicated to print and online platforms, and our broadcast newsroom is fully equipped with radio studios and a TV studio and gallery.
We also have a Photojournalism newsroom, fully kitted with high-spec Macs containing the key photo software.
You will learn to film, record audio, edit and upload stories to websites using industry-standard kit.
Our newsrooms aren’t just teaching spaces – they’re yours to use in your own time to work on assignments.
And if you’ve never even used a Mac before – don’t worry – we’ll teach you how.
