Hello UBLC members,

Firstly, I would like to thank Adam and his team for the outstanding work they have done in the past year, so Adam, Thank you and congratulations.

My name is Julio Mkok, all the way from Kenya in East Africa, a whole 10hr flight away; I couldn’t be more of an international student if I tried. Running for President of the UBLC 2017 /18

As this year’s First-Year Student Rep, former President of Clifton Hill House 2015 /16 and former Chair of the East African Model United Nations, I have gained experience leading and working well in committees, organizing events and projects, not only around the law school but also the university as a whole. All this aside, I am still a sucker for Sunday rugby touch and the occasional trip down park street to the infamous SWX on a Friday night.

I demonstrate a strong capability to serve the interests of others, through executing approachability, being open-minded and out-going. My charisma and ideas seek to sustain the well-reputed UBLC.

After intense research amongst my peers, these are some of my proposed ideas if elected;

1) Introduction of electronic ticket services for the UBLC winter and spring Law balls.
2) Introduction of the European International Model United Nations for UBLC members where law students from all over the world meet up to debate on current world issues.
3) Termly feed-back sessions on events and projects run by UBLC
4) Trip to THE Hague (International Criminal Court & International Court of Justice)
5) Annual forums for Widening Participation students from under-represented groups to support each other but it will also create a collective voice to address any issues.

Hopefully, I have convinced you slightly, if not entirely, that I am the right man for the job.
