Jungle Marathon, the world's wildest eco-run, organises a 42km marathon, and a 121km or 254km stage foot- race through primary Brazilian Amazon Rainforest in the glorious Tapajos National Forest.
Since its inception in 2003, Jungle Marathon has gained an international reputation as one of the world's most daunting adventure runs, combining the thrill of the sport with the backdrop of this fragile eco-system.
Runners encounter natural obstacles along the way and are exposed to the realities of the jungle as they encounter jaguar, wild pigs, snakes and a host of spectacular birds and wildlife.
Water crossings full of piranha and caiman increase the excitement.
The organisers work with a 100% local team, providing employment to the 22 small villages that live in this protected area of jungle, and during the racea team of over 200 people provide the safety required in such a potentially hostile environment.
