Just Checking was developed as a result of talking to the families of people with dementia, who told us how they worry about their relative who lives alone.

In 2004 we were awarded a DTI research and development grant to develop and pilot this innovative system. We piloted it with social services of several local authorities and improved it so that it could also be used for short-term assessments. More than half of all UK local authorities are now using Just Checking for assessment and care planning. The company is independently owned by its management team.
