Course description This foundation course is intended to give an introduction to the basic theory and practice of mindfulness within psychotherapeutic practice. The course introduces participants to key therapeutic contemplative practices and relational skills, grounded in the practice of Core Process Psychotherapy, one of the original mindfulness-based therapeutic forms. Its curriculum draws on thirty years of experience in offering psychotherapy trainings based on mindfulness practice. It invites us to listen at depth to self, other and to the relational field through adapting ancient Buddhist mindfulness practices for working jointly in relationship.
Course participants are encouraged to develop the ability to deepen into a state of presence and learn to bring this state of awareness into relationship. Mindfulness-in-relationship then becomes the ground of enquiry into self and interpersonal process. In this endeavour, mindfulness practices are integrated with western psychodynamics and psychotherapy skills, a fully integrated approach. The main focus is a cultivation of qualities of presence, compassionate awareness and enquiry that we can bring to self and other within relationship, and the extension of this both into our clinical work and in our everyday lives. It will be of interest to therapists in many fields of practice including psychotherapy, counselling, practitioners of complementary and orthodox medicine, body-oriented therapies such as Craniosacral Therapy and mindfulness-based practitioners in general.

Well, it's been some years and I am missing this place. I received a letter this morning for reaccreditation and all I can think is to be sitting in the group, feeling the connection, warmth and the unique holding this place let me experience. I'd do the training again, it's that good.

Karuna Institute. Home away from home. School for Buddhist Psychotherapy, a unique and beloved place where I have graduated with Master's Degree (MA) in Mindfulness Based Psychotherapy and have received as well accreditation. Have completed Foundation course, PQMA 2009-2011 and Clinical year. Studying at Karuna has been an experience that nourished me so deeply in a way which echoes in the depth of my being to this day. Training is taking place in a retreat modality in the beautiful scenery of Dartmoor National Park, England.

Held with compassion, tenderness and wisdom of heart by Karuna's tutors. Recommended to anyone who wishes for a truly authentic training of inner inquiry, deepening embodied awareness, cultivating presence and open-hardheartedness in relationship. With love and gratitude, I cherish Karuna in my heart:)

I wish I could study their CPP Diploma....As of now I have two little ones and I live in Madrid so it is a bit complicated. However, I don´t lose hope! :-). I attended a Foundation course with Maura Sills in London and I have no words. A-MA-ZING. Xxxxx

I studied the PQMA in Mindfulness Based Psychotherapeutic Practise.

For me there is not a better course that I could have found. It was rich beyond measure and the tutors excellent. I was attracted on three accounts, 1) that it is 70% experiential which simply makes sense for me in regards to psychotherapy training, 2) the integration of Eastern and Western psychology is rich and in my view highly appropriate to our times in the West, 3) the excellent tutors and the connection and trust i felt in them. I am now with a fairly flourishing psychotherapy practise en route to accredit in a few months. The proof is finally in the pudding of the work with clients. The foundations that Karuna have provided for me for my practise with clients has been wonderful...and the learning in truth never stops along the journey. I highly recommend the college to those who feel called to it in any way.

I studied Core Process Psychotherapy and found the masters to be an intense, yet very rewarding journey. The journey continues to unfold, still gifting me it many rewards.
