I’ve had a box of Brusho for about two years and never used them (shame on me!). Today I visited an Art Exhibition of wonderful artwork produced by the members of Morpeth Art Group, and my good friend Judith Herdman was showing visitors some Brusho techniques, and I was happy to watch and learn! Now this is something that will be much easier for me to do with my left hand, if and when my right hand is incapacitated - I’m honing my left hand skills and strength at the moment to take over from my dominant hand. I will not be stopped from producing artwork, even if it’s very different to work I usually produce. Art is a journey ........ 😊🎨❤️

I’ve pinched this from a friend’s page! Thank you Diane Stewardson! It’s what really upsets me when trying to sell my artwork when people say ‘it’s lovely, but it won’t match my walls/furniture/carpet/curtains’ and so on.... it’s the world we live in unfortunately 🙁

An Artist's Perspective: Thought of the Season SUMMER 2019
Bring on “those hazy, lazy, crazy days of summer...” as the song goes.
... Sadly, here in Northumberland, in the north east of England, we’ve had the hazy days, but not from the heat! Apart from the odd day or two of warm sunshine, we’ve had little in the way of summer so far. Nothing like the marvellous spring and summer of last year! But it’s early days! We’re at the end of June, just past Midsummer’s Day, and the official Summer is here and due to last until the beginning of September, when my favourite season of Autumn begins. Days are already starting to shorten by a couple of minutes each day....
We’ve had some sun, some thunderstorms, hail and humid conditions, some days cold enough to put the heating on, some wind and some cloud - and several very heavy cloudbursts! A real mixed bag, which is fairly typical of summer in this part of the world.
It’s normally the best time of year to start painting outside ‘en plein air’, but any plans to do so have to be well thought out regarding what to take, where to go, and the right kind of clothing in case the forecast gets it wrong (as it often does!) and you catch an unexpected shower or two. Many times I’ve set out to paint outdoors, only to have my plans changed by the weather and a quick return to my studio with only some quickly taken photo references to work from. I’m reminded of the well known Cadbury Flake advert where a lovely young lady, sitting in a wildflower meadow, gives up her attempts at painting when big, fat raindrops fall onto her watercolour pad and makes the colours run....and she gets out her Flake, unwraps it, and blissfully takes her first bite, head raised to the clouds and eyes closed. Ha ha, dream over...where was I.....?
Ah yes, summer in all its glory, no matter the weather, brings us lush, green foliage, gorgeous flowers, succulent fruits and vegetables, ripening crops in the fields, and often cascading waterfalls down our hillsides after the frequent rain showers.
So much artistic inspiration! Happy painting!

I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately - the promised next painting in my Four Seasons Series ‘Autumn’ 🍂 🍁 is still just in my head - planned, and I know what I’m aiming for, but all attempts at starting to paint it 🎨 🖌 have come to nothing 😟.
Sadly my right hand has painfully gone on strike and has no grip! Several paint loaded brushes have been dropped and paint splodged everywhere 🦠 🤣 in fact I wish I’d just had a bit of paper underneath and caught them to make an abstract...!
All is not lost though, and I’m seeing my lovely Consultant Rheumatologist on Friday to see what’s going on and to get X-ray, bloods and scan results. Suspect my biologic medication is starting to fail and existing bone damage is possibly worsening, but I’m not thinking negatively until I know for sure. Keeping my positive head on with every confidence that there’s something else that can help.
Next week, a new painting - fingers crossed 🤞😊

User

Now that I’ve finished ‘Four Seasons - Spring’ and am starting the next in the series - Summer, my thoughts are going to Autumn and Winter for the last two in the series.
What does Autumn represent to you the most?
