It’s another scorcher! 😎 Perfect weather to enjoy a cold Gurkha beer. And you can enjoy one at home as well as in our restaurant, why not add a bottle or two to your takeaway order and have it delivered nice and cold right to your front door? And as an end of the month treat we’re going to add a bottle free of charge to three random takeaway orders this evening so a few of you can have a drink in the evening sun on us...🍻☺️

Well, that’s another busy service and clean down done. And as the team enjoy a well deserved sit down and cup of cocoa* I noticed that we have received another review on Tripadvisor, and again it’s the full five stars. Once again, on behalf of all Team Kathmandu thank you so much to our guests and friends who take the time to review us on any medium, it’s truly appreciated. Our mission to exceed expectation in terms of pleasing and (we hope sometimes expanding) our guests’ cu...linary palates with our Nepalese cuisine and our fusion takes on contemporary dishes, allied to an aim for unparalleled service and affordability for expertise and sheer passion continues. We love to hear when we get it absolutely right, and we listen and learn on the rare occasions that we (being human) may miss perfection. The more observant amongst you may spot a recent four star review! Not that we’re obsessing...😉
We run regular competitions amongst our friends on social media, and there’s still time to enter the current Thermo Thursday competition to win a pair of chilli starters on us. You’ve got to be in it to win it!
*cocoa may not have been the only beverage involved in the post-service sit down, and may not have featured at all.... #drinkresponsibly #gurkhabeerhitsthespot

But ultimately the evening was about celebrating 30 years of wedded bliss. Thank you so much for sharing your celebration with us, and we hope that you and your guests enjoyed the evening. We certainly did! Many congratulations from all here at Team Kathmandu, and we wish you many more happy years together...☺️

All good things come to an end, but even the car park felt special as a balmy summer evening so near the summer solstice came to a close....

User

As always the team both front of house and in the kitchen enjoyed playing their part in the celebrations...

It’s always a pleasure to welcome our friends and guests, but never more so than when they honour us by allowing us to host their special occasion. Yesterday it was our huge pleasure to welcome the lovely Mr and Mrs Bridge along with their many guests, for the celebration of their 30th wedding anniversary. A considerable milestone which deserved to be celebrated in style!

Visited with friends, staff extremely polite and attentive. We all choose different options from starters and mains and all truly enjoyed the food which were very generous portions and cooked beautifully. Couldn’t have chosen a better venue for our evening

This place does the most amazing food never eaten in before always had takeaway . We decided to eat in this week and it’s always very busy so that tells you it’s good .... It is proper top notch food ..... 10/10 for me and my husband 👍🏽

User

It was a buffet style Sunday lunch. There was not too much choice but what there was, was indeed exceptional quality and taste and as usual so highly colourful. I would have liked one of the Nepalese paneer dishes from the menu. In fact any of the dishes from the Nepalese menu is most delicious and authentic and when my son visits from Canada we look forward to coming in the evening. Thank you for a lovely meal!

After a year of adoring this amazing food I thought it was time to leave a review. I dine there occasionally, I get deliveries more frequently. Two things to note: front of house are THE loveliest people, and whoever rattles those pots and pans in the kitchen is a PROPER chef, and a proper Nepali chef to boot. The regional dishes are seriously amazeballs, and having spent a fair bit of time in Nepal I flatter myself that I’d recognise European approximations. I can’t speak to the Indian dishes or dishes created here for the U.K. palate as I’ve not tried them, don’t see the point. You pay for a chef’s expertise, and you choose your cuisine. If I pay to eat a Nepali restaurant chef’s food, I want to taste their home. You wouldn’t ask Raymond Blanc to cook you egg and chips...

A note regarding deliveries. If you order at prime time on Friday or Saturday nights, be aware that they are BUSY. I normally order midweek, and the food comes piping hot well before the stated time. I’d commented on this, and the (very nice and helpful) delivery driver warned me that on those nights it’s usually a different story as they’re usually fire-fighting demand both in the kitchen and getting the deliveries out. He said that I should assume at least a two hour wait as a worst case scenario irrespective of what the app may advise, and if the food isn’t as hot as when it left the kitchen when it arrives then as it’s only been through one heat cycle I can zap it the microwave perfectly safely. I’ve only had to do it on one Saturday night, and when I’m getting that gorgeous grub delivered to my front door on a Saturday night for a quid it would be churlish to complain.

To ALL of your staff: keep up the amazing work, and THANK YOU!
