Kayu Gangsa is the UK's only Professional Malaysian Gamelan Group, based in Nottingham in the East Midlands.
Kayu Gangsa Description
"Kayu Gangsa" literally translated means wood and bronze.
Kayu Gangsa - a professional Malaysian Gamelan ensemble is part of the only UK based South East Asian performing arts organisation Nusantara.
Performing regularly at various high profile venues in the UK Kayu Gangsa is made of up a group of highly experienced professional musicians. The group performs both traditional Malaysian repertoire and contemporary compositions working with a range of composers representing styles from almost every western and eastern genre.
Previous work includes partnerships with Arts Council England, PRS Foundation, Visiting Arts, The High Commission of Malaysia, Matrade, MAS, Air Asia, as well as Tourism Malaysia.

Very nice welcome and audience today in Tintwisle, north Derbyshire. This was another Urban Gongs show with Baby People. Looking forward to the next one in Cromford on Friday.
On sat we are playing as part of the Nottingham Puppet Festival. We are playing a traditional set and also with the amazing Wayang Shadow Play specialist Kamrul Hussin. Come and watch 7pm to 9pm.
A very nice audience at Derby Feste, We performed with the Milisima Choir from Derby and the spoken word artist Mellow.
