Just because spring is here, doesn't mean you have to stick to pastels. Love this dark and moody colour if you're not a baby pink or lemon kinda person 🖤⚫

Happy Easter! 🐣 Aren't these nails just perfect for it? 🌼Hope all my clients have had a wonderful weekend so far and continue to have fun over the bank holiday ☺️
I know it's not the usual Easter for most of us but we can still enjoy the little things at home (which actually can be the big things we take for granted!)
Thinking of you all, sending love and hoping you can get together with loved ones again soon 💚

It's National Sibling Day, which feels very relevant for the salon as I know a lot of you pop in with your siblings for treatments 👭 I love the fact it gives you a little time to catch up together 💚I'm really looking forward to giving you the chance to do that again, hopefully not too long away!
What better time to also shout out my sister, Danielle. The lady behind the marketing for Keeley's Beauty Box and also our massage therapist.
Some of you may have seen her based her...e at the salon during the week or had a massage from her. Since going self-employed and working from home a lot of the time, she loves the chance to get to the salon and meet some friendly faces ☺️ she'll be able to again soon, I'm sure 💕in the meantime, it's FaceTime all the time for us!
Working with a sibling is also great because you can be very honest (and a little bossy at times) but if you can't be like that with your sister, who can you be?! 😂

It’s been a rollercoaster of a few weeks and I'm sure some of us will be feeling a little tense 🎢 If you’re in need of a little TLC, try self massage 💆🏻💆🏾‍♂️
You can buy trigger massage balls from amazon for around £7/8 🔵 They come in various sizes and densities (soft to firm) and you can use them to really get into the knots and tension in the muscle.
One way is to lie on the floor and roll over the ball so that you can get into knots and tender areas. You can also move aga...inst the wall or roll the ball over areas you can reach (like the arms and legs) with the palm of your hand 🖐🏼Just ensure you are rolling over muscle and avoid any bones.
Let us know how you get on!
We're looking forward to welcoming you back with open arms once this is over 💚Keep us in mind for a massage if you need to unwind and de-stress

Who needs mascara when you can have gorgeous LVL lashes like this?! 🖤No smudging, no flaking, just long, fluttery lashes 🦋
I bet a fair few of you are missing having your lashes done at the moment! Just think how good it will feel when you can treat yourself again, you'll appreciate it so much more 😘

I see many clients for hair removal, whether that’s body waxing or brow threading and waxing. So, for those of you that now want to try it at home yourself, I've pulled together a little guide to do it at home:
🍃Pre-hair removal 🍃
🌱Skin test - Do a little skin-patch test beforehand, so you’re extra certain there won’t be any irritation (for waxing or hair removal creams).
... 🌱Exfoliate - use a gentle face scrub or an exfoliating mitt and body wash in the shower to remove any dead skin cells, make for a cleaner removal and help to prevent ingrown hairs. Do this to the places you want to remove hair from specifically and do it 24 hours before you plan on the removal.
🌱Avoid moisturiser - make sure skin is free from any moisturiser or oils on the day of hair removal. You want there to be a bit of grip to make the experience as pain-free as possible.
🍃Now for the waxing... 🍃
🌱The best method is a waxing machine, using hot wax and strips, but I appreciate not everyone has one of these. So, pre-coated wax strips are fine as a substitute in the short term. You can get these in different sizes for different areas of the body. Don't try a bikini line with an eye brow strip - it could take a while! 😂If you do have a hot wax pot, the same tips still apply below.
🌱Hold the skin taut (pull it tight with one hand, with the waxing strip in the other). Pull the strip away against the direction of the hair growth in a sharp, quick motion. If you pull slowly, it will be more painful and leave wax on the skin. You'll feel it much less if you pull quickly.
🌱Don’t wax the same area twice. This can leave skin a little sore. Any stray hairs left after waxing can be removed with tweezers, which you should disinfect afterwards before using on other areas of the body.
🌱Apply pressure to the area you have just waxed with the palm of your hand to soothe your skin and use a cooling gel/lotion specifically for waxing. I'd recommend one with aloe vera.
Lastly, if you don't want to wax yourself at home that's totally fine, too! Be happy in the skin you're in and let it be ☺️

The sun we’ve had over the past week or so has got me thinking about warmer days and the fact that summer is just around the corner 🌞 It’s also got me dreaming of that summer glow ✨
If you want to kick start your tan safely, fake tan is a great little pick-me-up, especially as spray tans are a bit tricky to get at the moment. Here are my top tips for achieving that flawless, natural glow from a bottle:
☀️Exfoliate - use an exfoliating mitt in the shower before you tan (you ...can get these delivered easily from Amazon or Boots). You can also pair with an exfoliating scrub, but I find that the scrub alone isn't quite effective enough and you can't buff like you can with a mitt. Pay attention to dry areas like knees/elbows /ankles. Removing dead and dry skin means the tan won't cling to these areas and turn too dark/orange 🍊
☀️Moisturise - as above, it helps the tan to go onto skin more evenly and prevents it building up in dry areas. Again, make sure you cover knees/elbows /ankles a little more
☀️Apply the tan - use your favourite brand, one that works for you and buff into the skin in large, circular motions with a tanning mitt. I find mousse is easier to apply more evenly, @sttropeztan & @vitaliberata are two of my faves. Go lightly over hands, feet and face with tan left over on the mitt.
☀️Wear loose clothing afterwards to avoid any streaks/marks. An old pair of baggy pyjamas is ideal!
☀️Shower 6-8 hours later to allow the tan to develop (I usually apply at night and allow it to develop overnight) 🌙
☀️Moisturise daily to make the tan fresher for longer. Hold onto that glow!
☀️Exfoliate once a week to get rid of any dry patches, where the tan might stick to.
Let's get glowing! 🤩

@peaccibrand varnishes really are the best quality! Super shiny and super pigmented. They're made by @the_gelbottle_inc, which I swear by in the salon. You can also get the same colours which you love in the gel range. If you have a go to colour or one you've had your eye on from The Gel Bottle, let me know and I'll find you the matching Peacci colour!

Why not treat yourself to an at-home facial? Cleanse, tone, moisturise (add serum and eye cream if you wish!) and ensure you really massage everything into the skin, taking your time to unwind and relax 🧖🏻‍♀️♥️
You can still order @nealsyardremedies products through me and I can arrange delivery for you (covid-19 safe, no contact involved).
I don't want to put any nasties onto your skin, which is why I use @nealsyardremedies during the Mini and Deluxe facials at the salon 🌱🌳 Organic, cruelty-free and packed with good-for-you, natural ingredients 🌿The best way to look after your skin is to treat it kindly, and not lather it in chemicals!

Anyone missing their brow appointment a little too much? 👀 I've got your back 💁🏻‍♀️here are my top tips for shaping your brows yourself at home...
🌿To get the perfect space between the middle of the brows, use your finger as a guide. Place your index finger between your brows and draw a line on either side of it with an eyeliner pencil ✏️ Remove your finger and only tweeze the hairs in between those two lines. If you pluck too much between the brows, they look unnatural so t...his is just the right amount!
🌿Trimming the brows - shaping and removing bulk from your brows doesn't always mean tweezing them. Sometimes, a trim is all you need. Comb your brows straight up with a spoolie eyebrow brush, then use eyebrow scissors to trim only the longest hairs, staggering the length as you go ✂️ Be cautious here and don't trim too much - you don't want your brows to get a crew cut!
🌿Define the arch (the brow's highest point) just beyond the iris as you look ahead. So, it should start just after the coloured part of your eye. Tweeze a few hairs from the under part of the eyebrow at this point.
🌿Don't take too much off the ends. If your brows are too short, they can look disproportionate to your face 👩🏽👨🏼 Taper the ends to a clean point for a sharp finish and end them just before your brow bone meets the cheek.

If you're used to treating yourself to a salon manicure and missing the little buzz you get from your new nails, I've got some fool-proof steps so you can enjoy an at-home mani 💅🏼💅🏿
🌿STEP 1 - Clip your nails first so they don't take too long to file. When filing, move in one direction repeatedly rather than back and forth. If you look underneath your nail, you'll see there is a little line where the skin of your finger joins the nail - you shouldn't go any shorter than this.
...🌿STEP 2 - Buff top of the nail with a buffer, not a file, as that could damage the nail.
🌿STEP 3 - Clean your nails with polish remover. Even if you don't have any products on your nails, this just gets rid of any dirt that might be there and also removes the debris from buffing and filing your nails.
🌿STEP 4 - Push back the cuticles with a cuticle stick. You can also use a cuticle remover to soften them beforehand (this isn't the same as a cuticle oil). Make sure you're gentle with this. I usually cut cuticles for clients but wouldn't advise you do this yourself as it takes practice to get it right and not damage the nails.
🌿STEP 5 - Apply a base coat to hydrate and protect nails and prevent chipping. Leave to dry.
🌿STEP 6 - Apply a coat of your colour of choice. The trick here is to put just enough polish onto the brush to cover the nail in one coat - you don't want to overload the brush then have to do loads of strokes to get the polish spread on your nail - keep the first layer thin. Get the brush all the way down to the cuticle and into the corners of your nail.
🌿STEP 7 - Leave the first coat to dry and then apply the second layer, using the same guidance as step 6.
🌿STEP 8 - Once the second layer is dry apply a clear top coat and then tidy up and polish around the nail with a cotton bud dipped in nail varnish remover.
Send me photos of how you get on, I'd love to see what you create! 🤩
