About Kendal Snowsports Club
Run as a purely voluntary organisation to encorage and pass on our love of Snowsports
Kendal Snowsports Club Description
Formed as Kendal Ski club in 1984 after a meeting encoraged two hundred people each put in £10 to get things started and build their own slope and ski lodge on the side of the hill below Kendal Castle.
In 1997 following a successful bid for a lottery grant, the slope was totally rebuilt using the then untried Snowflex matting system and then extended in 2004.
The club was formed with the principle of skiing for anyone who wants to have a go. This was, still is, and always will be, the foundation stone of the club. The only change has been to embrace Snowboarding into this ethos.
We are a purely voluntary organisation. The people who greet you in the lodge and take your money, hand out tokens and set up the equipment for you are all members who have volunteered, as are the ground staff, club officers and our highly-trained team of instructors.
All monies are ploughed back into the club facilities. We all do it because at whatever level of ability, we all love skiing. The club's aim is to encourage anyone who wants to, to come and learn to ski.

Jacket found on the road last night (Friday). Is it yours?
At this unsetting time of moving away from Europe we have just received this picture of a recent German Student Exchange group visiting our slope in February.
What a charming, good mannered and fun group they were - we hope they return to Kendal again next year.
Our Club is very sad to have to announce that David Lawson one of our Trustees, Instructor, Founder and Honorary Member of our club passed away yesterday morning, 27th February 2019.
There will be a Service of Thanksgiving and Celebration of David's Life at Kendal Parish Church on Thursday 14th March 2019 (Time 3.30 TBC).
Many of us remember David from his time in Cumbria Youth Service, working to promote Outdoor Education through DofE, Canoeing, Sailing, Skiing and much mor...e.
David was one of life's true gentleman a real giver and doer, he will be remembered and missed by a huge number of us that were touched by his life.
We send our love and condolences to Elizabeth and his family, all of whom have been involved with the Ski Club over many years.

Adult ski lessons for beginners starts Wednesday - Book now - https://www.kendalsnowsportsclub.co.uk/ - Last few places to fill
Just a little woodland update
We have got the planning permission to fell some trees in the woodland to let more light down to ground level.
So we will get on with that shortly and use most of the timber to make habitats for creepy crawlies.
... We have ordered a load of saplings that the birds and bees will enjoy. They should be here in a week or so, then we would like to get them in the ground in fairly short order. It was a job lot of trees, far more than we need but it was a bargain! If anyone can think of any good homes for a number of hawthorn, blackthorn, crabapple, hazel, willow, rowan trees please let me know. We are wondering if any schools would be able to find room for some?
If anyone wants to give a hand with any of that it will be greatly appreciated.
Just leave a contact here.
