Over 700 people drown in the UK and Ireland every year. In support of Royal Life Saving Society UK - RLSS UK Drowning Prevention Week (14 – 24 June) we're sharing some top tips to keep you safe, all-year-round.
• Take any warning or safety signs seriously – they are there for a reason
• Look out for trip or slip hazards around water and stick to proper pathways
... • River banks and cliff edges may be unstable and could give way, so stay a safe distance from the edge
• Raise the alarm by calling 999 if you see someone in trouble in water

We'd like to thank everyone who came along to New Romney Fire Station's fantastically fun Family Open Day on Saturday 15 June. Those who came along were the first in Kent to see our 'new look' Open Day events, and as part of the fun, visitors enjoyed the 'Hose the House Down' game, saw incredible fire demonstrations, explored four new zones and climbed aboard a fire engine. With over 1,200 visitors to the station, those attending also helped us raise over £1000 for the Fire Fighters Charity.
The next Open Day event will be held at Ramsgate's new fire station on 22 June from 11am until 3pm. Will you be coming along?

A yellow warning for thunderstorms has been issued for some areas in the South East and #Kent this evening. Please take extra care if you’re driving, and remember to always drive to the conditions to help you stay safe.

Crews rescued a sheep stuck in the River Stour in #Chartham near Ashford Road at the weekend. Despite feeling a little sheepish after her ordeal, she was quickly back to feeding her lambs who watched on during the rescue.
