Kent Jazz Description
The Bramleys Jazz Jam is an event where musicians who play jazz; whether amateurs or who play professionally; can get together and play; taking part in jam sessions, or in some cases taking over the stage if they have come as a complete band. There are a house Bassist, Drummer and Pianist who endeavour to play the backing /rhythm of almost any standard requested (within reason); in any key requested; so that lead instrumentalists or singers can get on the stage and perform /improvise. However of course pianists, bassists and drummers are welcome to take over instead of the house musicians if they have come to jam. Sometimes self-contained bands take over the stage to themselves and perform a short set of their own. Although the entire event is mostly ad-lib; we try and limit people to 3 songs /tunes /standards; to allow time for others to play; and try and get everyone who wishes to play to have a chance. All in all its a great evening of music and fun; all set in the enchanting cosy atmosphere of the Bramleys Bar; and a good place for musicians to get to meet each other and jam; and for others to listen to some live jazz.
