BABIES: Birth and Baby Information, Education and Support in Hertfordshire and surrounding areas.

Hi, my name is Kerry and I am the owner of BABIES - Birth and Baby Information, Education & Support, through which I provide a range of services for expectant, new and 'seasoned' families.

BABIES includes the following: birth and postnatal doula services (including daytime and night time support) birth preparation workshops, parent education classes, and gentle sleep support.

Doula: As your birth doula, I provide care, support and encouragement to birthing mothers, as well as practical help during labour and birth. In the antenatal period, I provide guidance and information on birth physiology, teach (and practice with you) various comfort measures and help you prepare for your birth with regard to your individual desired birth environment, support system and immediate aftercare. All of my support is non-medical and my guidance is unbiased, non-judgemental and without agenda.

If you do not require an additional presence at your birth, but would like to know more about the upcoming birth and what you could expect, as well as some comfort measure advice, you could call on me for a Birth Preparation Workshop. This workshop could compliment your antenatal birth education (NHS, or private providers) or be in place of, if you've not been able to (or do not wish to) book on to any.

As a postnatal doula, I support you and your family in welcoming your new addition and settling into life with a little one. I provide non-medical guidance during this time and support you emotionally and practically in taking care of your baby and yourself. Support as a postnatal doula can be daytime or overnight.

Through Parentskool (www. parentskool. co. uk) I provide group courses that teach first-time parents-to-be about taking care of their baby and themselves from immediately after the birth until the baby is six months old (much of the information is applicable well beyond this age, though! ) The classes consist of practical elements such as changing a nappy and washing a baby, as well as details and information on subjects such as feeding, sleeping, physical and emotional health and well-being, relationships, bonding and attachment. Classes are informal, friendly and unbiased.
