PLEASE SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS :) Our restaurant " KHAMSA " has again been selected by Timeout magazine to enter love London Award . We would be very grateful if you nominated Khamsa for the Award . For the past 9 years we have worked so hard to introduce Algerian Cuisine here in London , of course it wasn’t an easy task but with your help and encouragement we have achieved overwhelming results. We will never change the way we operate our business , we still support our Brixt...on market where we get our vegetables and all our products will remain home-made . Again a huge thank you to each one of you and your help is much appreciated . How to Nominate us : 1- Follow the Link 2- Type in * Brixton * in search by area name . 3- Select Brixton 4- Type in * Khamsa * in search by venue 5- Voila , now you can do the rest .

Every year since the opening of Khamsa we have been organising a charity Iftars. The restaurant is well known for its generosity by offering a substantial percentage of its profit during the sacred month of Ramadan to different charities in London or Algeria. Last year charity dinners donations were dedicated the Palestinian cause. As you may know last December I have distributed hot meals to the homeless living in the street of Algiers as well as helping to organise Mawlid ...El nabawi festival for the sick children at Ain Taya Hospital. These actions were achievable thanks to your donations and therefore I would like to thank each of you for your support and your commitment in making this possible. One day while I was distributing meals with the charity "Dar el Keir" I met a lady with her three children who were living around the quarter of la Grande Poste not in a flat or a sheltered accommodation but sadly in the street around le Jardin de Sofia with her 3 children. You can all imagine what this brave woman is putting up with on a daily basis with insults, unwanted attentions and aggression from strangers. When I spoke to her I sensed the warmth and the affection of a woman who was trying to protect her kids. Her biggest wish was to see her children succeed in life. Those feelings are exactly the same feelings that connect me with my own mother.
So for this Ramadan it will be the perfect opportunity to do something for this brave lady therefore Khamsa organises Dinner Iftars and every £6 goes to her and the kids, charity "Dar el KHIER" will be in charge of all the funds collected to cover food, clothing and all necessary needs for her children starting school in September. Also I should like to send out a further appeal to all women to donate their unwanted/ spare clothes for this lady who is around 55 years old Your turnout for these charity dinners (Iftars) is paramount not only by supporting this woman and her 3 children financially, also giving them some hope and dignity to fight back this hard reality. May God reward you IchallAllah. See the flyer for details .
