Today we have launched our report into the psychological and social support given to kidney patients; this research which we have produced alongside the University of Salford, the British Renal Society, the British Psychological Society and the British Association of Social Workers (renal special interest group) shows that kidney patients throughout the UK are being let down by a lack of support. You can find out more here: https://www.kidneycareuk.org/…/kidney-p atients-lack-psycho…/

We welcome proposals in the Brexit White Paper, published today, calling for UK & EU nationals to continue to be able to use the EHIC. This will give hope to the 30,000 people on dialysis who rely on it to receive their life-saving treatment when in Europe https://www.kidneycareuk.org/…/hope-ehi c-cover-will-contin…/

You can now apply for a place at this year's Young Adult Weekend; a weekend for 18-30-year-olds with any renal condition, paid for by Kidney Care UK.
It’s in the Peak District, from Friday 5th to Monday 8th October, and renal patients between 18-30 years old, come from all over the UK to attend a weekend of activities and fun. A great weekend to relax with people who have been through similar experiences. The activities you can choose from accommodate for all kinds of physical ability.
If you know other Young Adults who may not know about this weekend, share the word and encourage them to come along (those of you who have signed up already, all forms will be sent out within a month).

In this heat it can be really hard to stay on top of fluid restrictions. We've got a few tips here, and there's more advice in the summer edition of Kidney Matters magazine, out in July. You can sign up to get your own copy here https://www.kidneycareuk.org/about-kidney -h…/kidney-matters/ (once it is out, you can also look at it online at the same link too)

We're absolutely delighted to have been able to help Ben have his first dialysis-free holiday. He had a transplant in February 2017 after being on the transplant list for 19 years. Ben has been through a lot and his family told us how precious time is...and how he has not stopped talking about the holiday ever since! ūüėĀ Our holiday grants help kidney patients take a much needed break https://www.kidneycareuk.org/g‚Ķ/holiday s-and-respite-breaks/

We've been to meet the children and staff at Tyler's Green Middle School in High Wycombe today. The Year 5 pupils raised a wonderful £303 for Kidney Care UK by charging each other (& their teachers!) to play games they had designed. They were inspired to fundraise because their caretaker has kidney failure.
If you'd like to talk about ways your school or local community groups could help raise money for charity please get in touch on 01420 594943

We don't think the current prescription charging system in England is fair. This Sunday marks the 50th anniversary of the prescription charges exemption list which has remained largely unchanged since 1968, resulting in many people living with long-term conditions paying high amounts for necessary medication.
Tomorrow, fellow members of the Prescription Charges Coalition are handing in the petition to Number 10 Downing Street. If you've not signed it yet please do so today https://e-activist.com/page/19623/petitio n/1…
Please share and encourage as many people as possible to sign today!
