Kielder has a character all of it's own. When you are here, pop in to visit Ralf at his workshop and have a look at some of his wares. Here's one he made earlier. Original and bespoke. Before we get confused, Ralf brought the apples from his local Spar. We can't grow them in Kielder.

Today's top story.

We've got a little fridge on site for people to use when staying over. Someone's started a silly trend naming the food. This morning I had some bacon and eggs called The Smith Family.

So I'm driving down the C200 and there by the side of the road is a hitchhiker. I stopped and found he was going to Kielder too. He hopped in and we started chatting. A few minutes into the chat he asked why I picked him up and that he may be a serial killer for all I knew. I replied reassuringly that it was highly unlikely, as the odds for two serial killers in one car going to Kielder would be astronomical.

An apt little giggle for a Tuesday.

For a good few years there has been much mooting about the "re-wilding" subject. Animals such as wolves back in the 90's, beaver more recently and Kielder was in the running as an ideal habitat for Lynx. Imagine if we had bears eh? Here's a little joke for us to enjoy this weekend:
Two guys are walking through a national park & they come across a bear that has not eaten for days.
The bear sees the two men, and starts chasing them.
... They run as fast as they can and the one guy starts getting tired and decides to say a prayer, “Please turn this bear into a Christian, Lord.”
He looks to see if the bear is still chasing and he sees the bear on its knees. Happy to see his prayer answered, he turns around and heads towards the bear.
As he comes closer to the bear, he hears the it saying a prayer: “Thank you Lord for the food I am about to receive.”

Any foragers who have attended one of Northern Wilds foraging [And also eating] events could be interested in these dates. Pop onto their FB or webpage and have a gander.

So we live on a green island, green....due to the rain. Some places, up North for example, have more rain. I live next to a reservoir, which is kept full by a higher quantity of rainfall than the average. So why are people surprised or dissapointed when it rains on a campsite, up North in England next to a reservoir?

I got asked where a TV reception could be found, so I showed them the pitches that would offer said reception. Wish I hadn't bothered, they wanted to watch Love Island.
