a great place - was given all the time in the world to learn both climbing and abseiling. generous enough to support my charity abseil = great team and community spirit :)

Would of given it 10 if I could! Travis and Poppy had a great time and will be back again!! They had a right treat with 1:1 teaching for the whole time! The instructor was extremely encouraging and patient! And very friendly too, letting the kids choose what they did as they went along. As a parent it was fantastic to see my kids so happy and trying a new sport! X

What a great centre. It may not be huge, but its got a lot of variety and is a really good venue for teaching skills. The staff are super friendly and the atmosphere is tops.

We went on Easter Sunday with two of our friends who came to visit us from North Yorkshire. We got a group discount to begin with which was super. We were all amateurs but they looked after us wonderfully and were very encouraging. It was very professional and safety was paramount. We had such a fun time with so many laughs. I think the main guys name was Jim (I hope I'm right), he was very knowledgable and clearly an awesome climber.

Had a top day and we will go back with more friends and family.

Son's 8th birthday party at Kilnworxs today. Everyone loved it and the staff were great with the children! Fantastic place to have a party, and a climb!

So welcoming, the kids had such an amazing time, Elliott was brilliant with them all, he was really patient and helped everyone of them achieve their mini goals. Age range of children 4-7 years old, Thanks for such a great time

So did our first taster session at Kilnworx last night, very well coached and looked after by Jin, had a brilliant time, learnt so much and can’t wait to go back again next week, cheers guys, love it!

My son had a brilliant birthday party. The instruction was really good, and firm enough to keep a bunch of lively 7 year olds in line without spoiling the fun. Kids loved the party room after too. Would recommend.

Mu twins and their friend went for their first instructed session yesterday and really enjoyed it. They had been to some free events around the city over the holidays and had a taster of climbing and all now completely hooked. We will be back fortnightly to start with and see how they progress up to Christmas; if they are still hooked we will be looking at weekly visits x Myself and Katy are also keen to learn to become volunteers whilst our girls are there!!!!

Just taken Ella and 3 friends they have absolutely loved it Jin was great made it lots of fun will definitely return.

I took my two girls for the first time yesterday. The staff were amazing. Taking into account the fears of one and confidence of the other they guided and encouraged them perfectly. My girls loved every minute of it and can't wait to go again!

Having climbed indoor centres everywhere from London to Fort william I can honestly say that I have never experienced such a friendly service at a climbing centre.

The induction was timely and simple and the gear we needed to rent was a good quality but what really stood out was the friendly service. We were immediately on first name basis with the owner or guy running the show as well as a few regulars or staff (the line between friends and employees at the centre is as vague as you would want at a centre where you are aiming to socialise and enjoy some climbing) .

The second great point was made when we asked for a member of staff to backup a new climbers belaying. We received A grade tuition and guidance that Even a seasoned climber could benefit from. The community atmosphere allowed for plenty of opportunities to nab a belay if you come alone.

The centre isn't huge but a clever use of space has made that irrelevant. the routesetting is really good favouring the use of good technique and clever routefinding over outright power. The walls Comprise of countless aretes, chimneys, overhangs, ledges slabs and vertical faces on both lead and top rope as well as a small but tall bouldering section and some really nice dry tooling routes. there is plenty to offer for all climbing styles.

In summary Kilnworx hits at the heart of climbing which is good fun, the atmosphere is that of a group of friends you instantly become a part of and the appearance and style of the centre give you fair weather climbing whilst still holding a solid connection with the outdoor adventure sport that climbing is. There is no roped climbing subculture that cant appreciate what this place has to offer.
