King'S Cultural Community Description

Across King’s College London, arts and culture offer distinctive opportunities to students and academics, helping to deliver world-class education and research that drives innovation, creates impact and engages beyond the university.

Over recent years, King’s has developed symbiotic partnerships with artists and cultural organisations that enhance the King’s experience and, at the same time, add value and deliver benefits across the cultural sector. From uniquely tailored teaching, training and internship programmes, through collaborative research projects and enquiries, to exhibitions and public events, arts and culture are helping to generate new approaches, new insights and new networks.

King's College London is pleased to present The #ArtofHealing: Australian Indigenous Bush Medicine, an exhibition in #BushHouseArcade exploring traditional healing practice through contemporary art from the many distinct and varied Indigenous communities throughout Australia.
All works in the exhibition are linked by the strong connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to Australia, and the habit of passing down cultural knowledge to the next generation. Th...e works use a range of techniques and media, including painting in ochre and acrylic, printmaking, weaving and ceramics.
The exhibition is a partnership between Menzies Australia Institute at King's, Poche Centre for Indigenous Health, Medical History Museum, University of Melbourne and the London exhibition is supported by the university’s Culture team.

#PortraitsofIran opens today in #BushHouseArcade King's College London, exhibiting photographs by Dr Brian Kavangh in the Department of Digital Humanities at King's College London. The photographic series explores the paradoxes of life in Iran between a culture of tradition and a globally connected, technology-driven modern world.
Exploring tensions between the reality lived by many and the strictures of the regime and Islamic law, the photographs humanise what is a highly-e...ducated but often frustrated population, of which little is known or understood outside of Iran.
The exhibition runs 2 – 26 April 2019 and is supported by Department of Digital Humanities, part of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities at King's College London.
There will be a private view of the exhibition tonight, 18.00 – 20.00. For more information please visit https://bit.ly/2HE7dUS
