Back in February, we asked you all to help us name our new "little train" station... It's taken two months of heated debates to whittle the possibilities down to just two names. However, we need your help once more to select the final name.
So, please VOTE NOW to decide if the new little station should be named: Newt Crossing (suggested by David Wrigley) or Mallard Halt (suggested by Gary Ford).
Voting closes at 6pm on Sunday 14 April.

What a wonderful weekend it has been. Our two ladies Katie and Sian certainly put on a show for visitors to our first Katie and Sian Weekend.
It was great to see friends old and new coming to see the two sisters working alongside each other again.
Thank you to Owen Ryder for sending in this image as Driver Chris and Uncle Geoff try to recreate the two locos passing as they would have done at the Fairbourne Railway.
... Our next Katie and Sian Weekend is 4th and 5th May, why not come along and see just why these engines are so special.

Went on santa special was fantastic from start to finish.Santa and his grotto were brill.we travelled to the north pole in the light and back in the dark.so glad we did this as we saw the beautiful countryside covered in snow there and the lights lit up at the grotto and on the way back.great experience

User

We have visited several times and always have a great time but today was our first visit for the santa special and it was lovely! The kids enjoyed the lights son the tunnel and doing the scavenger hunt. The elves were friendly and engaging and Santa himself was wonderful, very realistic and the kids loved him. I thought my youngest (2 year old) would be afraid but he was very reassuring and she was comfortable enough to go and stand right next to him. The presents were a big hit with them too! We had a great trip, thank you!

User

We came for Father's Day. It was a fab day out. My little one (15 months old) loved playing in both play areas and as it was his first time on a train he was amazed! I also booked afternoon tea.. wow! I would highly recommend it, it was very scrumptious. Very good price £30 inc train tickets! Staff were ever so friendly with excellent customer service skills. We will definitely be returning.

User

Our first time at Kirklees light railway , the experience was out of this world , very magical , it was topped off with a dusting off snow , the elves with lovely and interacted with our little girl , Father Christmas was brilliant , I can't believe he finds time out of his very busy schedule to meet all the children , we was on the last train and will definitely do the same next year as it was made more magical by Father Christmas walking by the train with his elf waving then boarding his sleigh a lovely lovely touch .... thank you

User

My twin 5 year olds had a fabulous Day out with Thomas at KLR. Everything we’ve been to at KLR has always been well organised, the staff are friendly staff & there’s lots to do, my boys especially loved the donkey rides!

User

Its a great little outing. Lovely picnic table areas, The kids (and adultss) love a ride around the pond on the little sit-on train for 50p or a 25min ride each way on the narrow gauge railway is a lovely experience. There is a cafe and gift shop too and lots of apparatus for children to play on. Would recommend.

User

It was our first experience on the santa train any my 2 children loved it! The staff were amazing and the build up to see santa was great (compared to an in/out job at a shopping centre) the ‘North Pole’ was fab - plenty to do before we headed back on the train. Only downside was my kids got a bit restless on the train )25 min ride each way) and the windows were all steamed so we couldn’t see much - so take a tissue! But overall we had a wonderful afternoon and I would definitely recommend / do it again!

User

Had my daughters birthday party today, what a great day. Staff who helped out with the party was amazing. Everyone had such a good time thank you so much guys. The party train is just great food was brilliant for the kids, party games at the other end the kids really enjoyed.

User

Had a great time with the kids here. Only 2 & 3 years old, but a lovely play area for them, decent cafe and facilities at the first stop and the train is great fun for the kids, especially the tunnel! Would definitely go back again and take the grandparents too! Fun for young families.

User

Had a fantastic day out with Thomas yesterday. All four of the children in our group (aged 1,3 and two 5 year olds) had a great time and our 3 year old wanted to stay forever. There was lots to do and not much queuing. Loving the new play area too. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

User

Great day on Saturday for the steam gala .

Lots of engines running . Very friendly staff and a great restaurant with some lovely cakes .

User

Came here for Afternoon tea the other week, was simply the best afternoon tea I’ve had and the service was brilliant to! Even had to bring some cake home to!

User

Been here today for the Thomas event for my sons 3rd birthday. Was so good from start to finishing. Didn’t really know what to expect but it was a wonderful day. All the staff were amazing and even the Fat Controller sang Happy Birthday to him which absolutely made his day the park and all other areas were spotless, such a refreshing thing these days. Staff couldn’t do enough for you. Brilliant

User

Attended the santa train this morning for the fourth year and we had a fabulous time! The children love the play areas, train ride, elves and the fabulous santa who is always so kind, takes time to chat to the children about when he comes to visit! The quality of the gifts is evident and the whole experience is worth every penny! The BBQ is always a hit along with the lovely sherry, mulled wine and mince pies! My daughter particularly loves the elves and the same lady has been there 2 years in a row, recognised my daughter and made an extra effort with her, involving her in a special Christmas story... Thank you for a great time! See you next year

User

Another superb santa special. Our boys loved every second of it. They always enjoy the train ride but were super excited today. The grotto was spectacular and each year we think that it is the best that it could be and we are proved wrong every time as we return to find that it has improved even more. The attention to detail of every aspect of the whole package makes it very special and great value for money, thank you to all involved as we have two very happy boys here. The most special way to begin the countdown to Christmas.

User

After 18 years of living nearby I came across this lovely little steam train railway today. We had a great time with a princess and knight themed day! A small but well run event with very friendly staff(?) and volunteers. Our children loved it and we will certainly be back.

User

A fabulous day out for all the Family. The Santa special is magical and great value for money. The kids loved it and their presents!

User

We visited on Thursday. The children enjoyed it at ClaytonWest but we was shocked how little there was to do at Shelley station.. so much so that we got straight back on the train. The cafe was overpriced for the quality of the food. We spent over £35 including drinks. We did have issues with our order (which I won’t go into) but I have to say, the manager of the cafe couldn’t do enough to apologise and rectify this for us. She was absolutely lovely. All the staff were friendly!

We wouldn’t visit again but if we did, we would definitely take a picnic

User

Currently here at the santa special, booked on the twilight session, left very disappointed and 2 kids bored out of their minds nagging how long and far it is. Very boring ride, no lights along the way apart from 5 tiny candy canes in the tunnel. Shocking ! Arrived with nothing to do apart from sit in a tent and colour. Saw santa for the whole of 2 minutes and then out the door. Back to sit and colour waiting for the boring half an hour train ride back home. Never again, first and last time. Especially for £64 wasted
