Kite Beach Hayling

About Kite Beach Hayling

Kite Beach, Hayling Island is at the bottom of Chichester Avenue / Seafront road. A BKSA approved kite spot that's free and open to everyone.

Kite Beach Hayling Description

After West Beach turned from a club to a profit making enterprise a FREE Land Launch site was needed. Liasing with Beachlands and the Uk Governing Body of Kitesports BKSA, Kite Beach was born. Kite Beach Hayling is at the bottom of Chichester Avenue / Seafront road. A BKSA approved kite spot that's FREE and open to everyone. Ideally you will have your own insurance and be knowledgable and confident kiter.
If you have never had lessons please get some before kitesurfing on your own as altthough kites are now safer than ever it can still be very dangerous.
For those who are confident you are able to kite to the sand bar to surf the waves there or make the most of the flat water but for regular ramps Kite Beach Hayling is awesome.
You can kite at any state of tide, but high tide does offer some shore breakers if there is swell and any wind is ok apart from anything with North in it.

See you on the water!

We had our yearly meeting with H.I. Beachlands management a few weeks ago. Everything has gone well this year with no incidents apart from people launching in front of the car park when they should be between the signs but Beachlands team and a few of the regulars have been pointing this out to new comers. Looking forward to another warm windy summer! :)

There's a breeze and it's low tide!!

Great summer so far. Lots of wind around now! Post your pics here of your session!

Unfortunately the crab has been taken from the permanent self launch sling. :(
You will need to take your own from now on.

A Slingshot Kiteboard was lost from the sand bar on Tuesday. Has anyone found it??

We have just had our yearly chat with Beachlands and everything is looking great. We are seeing lots of new faces this year and due to the success of the zone it will probably need to be made larger for next year which is great news.
Please lets get as many people as we can to like this page so any news can be transmitted to as many people as possible.
It has been super good lately with warmer than average temps and some awesome swell out on the sand bar. The swim zone is not active in the winter months so you can kite through it but it will come back into force from March 1st. (When you have to start paying to park again). The swim is marked by Yellow Buoys from the FunFair to the Inn On The Beach.

A bar and lines set was found at the beach on Sunday evening just gone. If you think they are yours please call 02392 467755 and ask for Mark.

Thanks to local kiter Chris for donating the new permanent self launch leash and crab. This is attached to the eastern most warning sign at Kite Beach Hayling. Please feel free to use (at your own risk of course). REMEMBER to de-power your kite fully before self launching this way as the kite can dance around and could launch itself.
It's been pretty good at the beach lately and it's great to see some new faces as the spot grows in popularity. Please tell you people about this page so we can keep you all updated should anything happen, or get left at the beach or something. :o)

Here is the safest way to land and launch if there is no one to help you. You may have noticed alot of the locals do this and if there is a leash attached to the sign then you know someone is out. Feel free to try it if there is one there. Then make your own!
FYI: The council are aware that we do this. The BKSA don't like this method but it is the ONLY way to do it when no one is around and it takes out the equation the unkown if a 'passer by' 'helps' you. This in my view is ...very dangerous and never a good idea as you have NO IDEA if they will do it correctly. I;m sure everyone has had a moment with someone you don't know (OR KNOW!?) and offers to help.
Stay Safe!

Well, it's been pretty great lately! HOT and WINDY! Some big swell and wind coming for the weekend too! :o)
COUNCIL NEWS: Beachlands have had some reports of kiters near to shore outside the zone mainly to the East of the zone towards the beach huts. We have made the council aware that the light(ish) winds of late make it difficult to stay upwind inside the marked zone near the beach but unfortunatley when its hot and windy alot of beach goers appear and inevitablly some peop...le get upset. There has also been reports of kiters (and windsurfers apparently) inside the yellow buoyed swim zone which is to the East of the Kite Beach from the Fun Fair to the Inn On The Beach. This is REALLY not allowed as swimmers have been put off from even going in as they feel uneasy with kiters around.
If you are kiting out to the sand bar please do not enter the yellow buoyed area. If you are drifting downwind out of the Kite Beach Zone please walk back up as soon as you can.
If you are interested it was this weekend just gone that some people have complained. Saturday evening specifically.
I know it's not easy to stay away from the public especially when they sit right in the middle of the zone or even just outside, but we only have a few weeks of warm weather left probably so lets just try to get through it with little upset.
Other than this weekend it's all been tickety boo with no incidents or injuries that we know of so WELL DONE EVERYONE for staying out of trouble!

The summer is definitely here now and finally some kite-able wind appeared today. It is £1.20 an hour to park now but FREE after 6pm with day light lasting till well gone 8pm currently. Everything is looking good for another summer of FREE Kitesurfing on Hayling Seafront. :o)

Tonight should be a solid 15knts+ Easterly coming through.
You can launch at ANY state of tide at Kite Beach Hayling. Only high tides when on springs 5m+ does it get a little gnarly if there is some shore breakers but last night was fine with a sandy shore to too!
... This is a great wind forecast website (others available like xc weater and the met office):

THIS SUMMER has been a bit rubbish for wind, but some has returned and Kite Beach Hayling has seen some action finally.
PLEASE NOTE: Some people are landing and launching in-front of the car park but the zone is meant to be to the right of the car park (when looking out to sea). It has to worth trying to stay inside the sign posts to keep this FREE zone going.
If you are a user of this beach and want to help it to continue please like this page and tell others to do so. It is... only with the combined voice of like minded kiters that things can be achieved.

There have been reports of kiters in the swim zone. Please be sure not to stray into the yellow buoyed area which is located between the Funfair and the Inn On The Beach. This is an EU blue flag beach swim zone.

BEST WIND DIRECTIONs for Hayling Kite Beach: Anything from SE round to W are the best with SW being the ideal prevailing wind direction.
*Never kite in offshore conditions + it is gusty and rubbish anyway!
