Outrageous cheek of it....

Had to open the emergency overspill ward this week!

As we have had a few enquiries about what people can buy to help us out, this is one of the items we use all the time that is not on our Amazon wishlist!

We have had a lot of people kindly offering help this week, asking what we need and how they can help us after we have been so busy! So, if you really want to help, or you know someone who can... We are in need of volunteers for our charity shops in Wigton, Silloth, Maryport and Brampton! More or less ALL of our funding comes from our shops, no shops, no Knoxwood! Can you spare even half a day a week, either for sorting goods or serving customers? Please share!... And thank you all. Check out our volunteer application form here: https://docs.google.com/…/1ZYJRSMZOVPS8 TweQQ-tucNCrBE…/edit…

All time high levels of wildlife coming in, 268 in June, we had 20 more yesterday, and more this morning! Please remember to pop a shallow dish of water out for the wildlife, you will save lives! Here are some baby starlings enjoying a snack in the wildlife hospital. All will be released as soon as they are independent.

User

News and Star article, we have had 268 birds and animals brought in this month! (Although there is someone at the gate, so I imagine it will be more than that now)

User

A special treat for you all this morning... Meet Mumsie and her hoglets. They were brought in after the barn they were living in was cleared out. They ended up being mistakenly scooped out as they were deep in the litter, but thanks to the quick thinking of the farmer, they were quickly saved and transported to us. There was a very high risk that Mumsie would reject the babies due to her nest being destroyed, and the nest couldnt be restored satisfactorily at the farm, but she has been a super star and paraded her babies for the first time for us to see! They will all be released as soon as the babies are old enough.

User

Our winter feed is on the way! Lovely weather for drying hay.

User

Hoglet season! We currently have 10 and it's still early! Will try to get a video of them feeding later on.

Would like to thank you for taking in a little baby bird that had fallen from its nest, the bird was tiny, no feathers just a nestling, we kept it safe for a full day in the hope the mother would return but she didn’t, knoxwood didn’t hesitate to help, took the bird straight into and incubator and fed it immediately, the lady who helped me was lovely, my children are so relived the bird or Timothy as they named it is safe and being cared for, thank you again x

This place is amazing and I would like thank everyone who took the time to show us around. I know that these animals are well looked after and those that can be returned to the wild are encouraged to get well. Those that stay have a permanent home loved and care for the rest of their lives. I admire your dedication and will follow your journey here on Facebook.

Thank you once again

Just dropped off a seagull with a broken wing tonight and although the centre was closed, George and his lovely daughter still helped us out. I can't thank you enough, I wish the world was full of people like you. I will visiting again soon and telling all my friends. THANK YOU

I used to visit here, many many years ago, when I was much younger.

Back then it was a small portacabin and few pens. Even then it was clear the owners and staff were doing amazing things. I do not think I’ve even seen such a mixed bag of animals, living in harmony was awe inspiring.

Being able to see what the places has turned into, is heartwarming. To see the amount of animals being helped is amazing.

I assume Rolo continued to call the shots until the end. (For those who don’t know, he was a Racoon, with a people complex. Loved him to bits).

User

I am so greatful that I had the chance to be there and talk to those wonderful people at the sanctuary. Thank you for the advices and for spending precious time with me and my family, making us better people. God bless you!
