The KOH-I-NOOR, meaning "Mountain of Light" The diamond is currently set into the Crown of Queen Elizabeth and is on display at the Tower of London. We want to be KOHINOOR among Indian restaurant by providing best curries and services.

History of Chicken Tikka Masal, UK's Favorite Curry _________________________________________
Chicken tikka masala is chicken tikka, chunks of chicken marinated in spices and yogurt, that is then baked in a tandoor oven, served in a masala ("mixture of spices") sauce. A tomato and coriander sauce is common, but there is no standard recipe for chicken tikka masala; a survey found that of 48 different recipes, the only common ingredient was chicken. The sauce usually includes t...omatoes, frequently as puree; cream and/or coconut cream; and various spices. The sauce or chicken pieces (or both) are coloured orange with food dyes or using foodstuffs such as turmeric powder, paprika powder or tomato puree. Other tikka masala dishes replace chicken with lamb, fish or paneer.
Origins -------- One explanation of the origins of the dish is that it was conceived in an Indian restaurant. Rahul Verma, an Indian expert on street food from Delhi, has stated that the dish originated, probably by accident with subsequent improvisations, in Punjab during the last 50 years. There are also claims that a Pakistani chef Ali Ahmed Aslam, proprietor of the Shish Mahal restaurant in Gibson Street in the west end of Glasgow invented it by improvising a sauce made from yoghurt, cream and spices. In July 2009 Pakistani-born British MP Mohammad Sarwar tabled an Early Day Motion in the House of Commons asking that Parliament support a campaign for Glasgow to be given European Union Protected Designation of Origin status for chicken tikka masala. The motion was not chosen for debate nor has Sarwar spoken on this subject in Parliament. Others lay claim to the origin being Birmingham and Newcastle. Some people have drawn comparisons between chicken tikka masala and butter chicken, another Indian dish including chicken and gravy which was probably invented in Northern India. Ethnic food historians and authors Peter & Colleen Grove also discuss various origin claims of Chicken Tikka Masala in their article "Is It or Isn't It? (The Chicken Tikka Masala Story)", in which one of their conclusions suggests that "The shape of things to come may have been a recipe for Shahi Chicken Masala in Mrs Balbir Singh’s ‘Indian Cookery’ published in 1961."

Wonderful food and excellent service

Well we decided to have a meal out for a change and what a culinary experiences it was fantastic freshly prepared food beautifully presented and excellent service you were made to feel special and your custom was appreciated we will definitely be enjoying more meals at this marvellous establishment thank you for making our meal so special

We went on a 'special night' midweek and they were busy but that's a good sign. For just over a tenner there was a great choice of starter, side, main and rice or Nan. Decor lovely, waiters friendly, helpful and efficient. Food was lovely and lots of it. Definitely recommended :)

We absolutely love it!! Great food, lovely polite staff have had many large parties and catered for us all . Definatly worth a visit you won't be disappointed x

The food is amazing here. The staff are very helpful when trying to choose something that you will like that's not too hot etc. Decor is lovely too. Looks very clean too. Definitely come here again.

You really did us proud! we were a party of 12 and the food as on our previous visits was superb, very tasty, great quality and very well presented, our service was first class and we had lovely comments from our guests on how much they all enjoyed their meals, lovely friendly staff and lovely extra touches which made it extra special, would highly recommend and great value for money too! :)

Had a big party with family there, it's a lovely restaurant with friendly staff and great atmosphere but best of all is the freshly cooked mouthwatering delicious food prepared by the talented chefs. Thank you once again and keep it going...will be back for many more times to come.
