so whats percussion got to do with massage! Not of the musical type! There are a range of movements in massage that makes up the wonderful percussion techniques. Tapotement is also known as hacking or percussion. The therapist holds the hands outstretched with the fingers and thumb outstretched. This movement comes from the wrist which should be loose and relaxed. Both hands are used to strike the clients body alternately. Only the tips of the three medial fingers should make contact with the client by striking in quick successions. This derives from the Swedish massage.
