We have recently had our meeting with network rail and unfortunately are not much further forward than we were prior to the meeting.
... The expected resolution of issues on the 11th of October, was actually just a basic reconnaissance mission by Network Rail to view the site.
What has been a simple disagreement regarding drainage has turned into a litigious arguments and statements via email regarding planning (of which we have the correct consents from Waltham Forest Council) and not the original drainage concern.
This statement is not intended to berate Network Rail as it seems they are now trying to progress our issues internally but are instructing us not to continue with the refurbishment as a cafe until the relevant consents are attained. We would like to point out that to start this internal procedure with NR they issued an invoice, as there is a cost, which was paid promptly over 2 years ago (they had no record of this, which we provided during the meeting), in between this 2 years a number of NR staff were aware of the ‘use’ of the building, including site visits by members included in our meeting.
Our frustration is palpable, as we have followed all of their procedures, and the shortcomings are from the large company, not the local business and find ourselves dealing with an unrelated issue to the original problem.
As a result of this we have had to let all of our staff go as we cannot give them a definite re-opening date.
We will further update all of our customers when we get a response from Network Rail.

To all our customers... We started a refurbishment which was due for completion the end of next week however due to unforeseen difficulties with network rail (our freeholder). I’d like to explain to our loyal customers that what started out as a simple drainage problem has quickly escalated with problems in dealing with network rail, we’ve had many conversations with them asking for help to resolve a small issue. We have been told that should this drainage problem “become to... litigious and expensive” they will reconsider “demolishing The Signal Box, as it is of no national listing”. We are very very upset by this, not only because The Signal Box is what makes La Boîte what it is, but it makes Highams Park. We will continue to fight, and in the meantime do everything we can to get re-opened as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding & we can’t wait to welcome you back to a new and improved La Boîte.

My wife and I absolutely loved the food, with the added bonus of trains for the kids!!! Loved my chorizo and manchego gallette so filling.

Visited this morning with two of my daughters - excellent service and delicious food - catered for two of us who are gluten free which is excellent -very lucky to have this local to us - we will most definitely be back! X

Unreal food & so unique in the area ! Had my first of many galettes today .. can't wait to come back already �� staff are so friendly too would definitely recommend a visit ! Xx

Really tasty savoury and amazing sweet, very fortunate to have this place open at the end of my road. Have been twice in one week they were so nice and recommended to friends and family. Second visit was so good we stayed and had 2 each! You can see the staff work really hard and are always friendly. They have done so much with such a small space the design is great and love the lighting. Dangerous knowing they do takeaway! Wishing them lots of success.

My first visit today. Small, space well used. For a listed building , they had done marvellously well.

Fantastic crepes, tried savoury and sweet, both with fresh ingredients and with gluten free flour. Delicious. I will definitely go back soon.

My 5 yr old chose to come here again for his 5th birthday as he loves the pancakes and of course the trains!

10 of us came and caused complete mayhem but the staff were very accommodating. Pancakes were delicious and service was spot on. They even allowed us to bring in a birthday cake! X

I drive my bus past it every day and thought I wonder what it's like, so this Sunday as I was on lates I decided to try with my other half, we like to try as many local places as possible, we both enjoyed the food and found the staff very friendly, it was a pleasure to eat there and we will be coming back again, a real gem of a place, well done �

I absolutely love La Boite! Not only were the staff incredibly friendly, but the crepes and galettes were delicious! It was very busy and me and my friends were still welcomed with smiley faces and a brilliant service. The table next to us, were complaining about how the crepes were being served one by one, but seeing as it is only a small place, and only has two cooking rings, I was surprised how speedy the service was. I think they have used what small space they have, perfectly! Great atmosphere and will be returning soon. Definitely recommend!! :) (The "Go Bananas" crepe is to die for!! )

Great to have a vegan menu. Tried the vegan galette with vegan cheese and tomatoes was very nice. Can’t wait to come back and try one of the film nights �

Enjoyed great service and delicious food today in this quirky eating place in lovely Highams Park. Yes, you have to wait for food and yes, the place is often full, but that's because the delicious crepes and galettes are freshly made and La Boîte is very popular. Nice to take time in this manic, fast food world in my opinion.

Delicious crêpes! I have now tried both, savoury and sweet and I must say all just as good!!! I strongly recommend paying a visit, you won't be disappointed at all!!!!! And if you love coffee, this is the place!!!!!

A bit different to eat in a signal box! Friendly staff and great galettes. Also the cidre was lovely, so dry and crisp. Service was good and we didn't have to wait long for our food. Whilst not necessarily authentic it might be worth thinking about having little bowls of olives or other easy snacks as options for starters, especially for evening dining. I'd have quite liked a small side salad too. I'd have paid for all of that, probably stayed longer and drank more too! Keep it simple for day times though.

I really enjoyed our visit today. Friendly staff, lovely food and a great atmosphere (my son was also delighted that the train drivers waved at him). Looking forward to going back for wine at some point. Lovely to have in HP.

The setting and the idea/pancakes are fantastic but we waited painfully for eons for our pancakes...the trains entertained for a while but then even I got fed up. I understand that there's not enough space for loads of griddles but waiting is just too boring. :(

Pancakes are really nice, they have a really good variety of flavours and staff are friendly but tables were dirty and never cleared even when it was quiet, also no glasses for water (lemons were left in the water too long and made the water taste funny)

Disappointing visit yesterday. The cafe was overcrowded, airless and very noisy. We waited ages for our food and they brought the wrong galette for my son. When I queried it, they just argued about it, with no apology. Such a shame.

Worst customer service I've ever seen. We had to wait WELL OVER AN HOUR for only two crepes!! What makes matters worse, two tables that came in after us were served before us. The manager was not in at the time (despite the place being close to full capacity) and we were offered no form of compensation for such a bad experience. So in conclusion, it cost me a total of £18.70 for a bad mood and rushed food. Will not be coming back.
