Ooh la la Fresh Shetland Mussels back in season. Victor’s Moules Mariniere hard to beat😋

Good Morning September, one of our favourite months to enjoy...

This place is a delight. It's not going to be affordable for all, but the experience should not be diminished because of that.

From the first mouthful you can tell everything has been made fresh. Even young, fresh-faced staff are knowledgeable about menus, opening times, ingredients. The owners Lynne and Victor are both passionate about what they do and strike the perfect balance between having a nice chat and leaving you to enjoy the food; don't expect "Is everything okay?" with every course; since VIctor is in the kitchen, if it's NOT okay, it probably wouldn't have made it to your table in the first place; of course slips may happen (not did during our visit) but not to the level that they have to constantly seek their diners' approval.

In terms of particular "hits"; the French Onion Soup was wonderful; don't expect the thin broth that often passes; this is a well-reduced earthy concoction with bundles of deep flavour.

Scallops. Man, can they grill a scallop...perfectly done crispy bits round the edges and beautiful soft texture for the rest.

The Venison. Probably the best I've eaten, perfectly pink and with a rich sauce that matched it completely.

My other half had a "special" Rhubarb Trifle dessert which came looking like a Manhattan cocktail, and tasted every bit as good as it looked.

Will be back again - when I've saved up!

Simply fantastic

We came here by accident after booking our anniversary meal at another restaurant that just wasn't quite right for the occasion.

Following a recommendation we ended up where and were certainly not disappointed.

Amazing service, food and wine

Those that know how an evening meal should be will not be disappointed.

Not for those on a budget

I Couldn't recommend more highly

One of the best kept secrets in the midlands. For a European Bistro they do a mean curry (Lynne you need to let me know if this is back in the Menu)

User

Lovely setting sat in the beautiful garden welcomed by Lynn and her 2 gorgeous Jack Russell's Bella and Jock with a glass of wine. The staff are all very friendly and cannot do enough for you. From the fresh nutty bread and the beautiful French onion soup which is to die for. The food is exceptional and make sure you leave room for the sweet they are all very different not your normal ones. I honestly can say this is one of the best meals my husband and I have had and we eat out a lot. Thank you Victor and Lynn your restaurant is a credit to you.

User

La Popote is my favourite restaurant, we have celebrated lots of special occasions here over the years.set in a beautiful location Lynn,Victor and their team deliver a first class service, always warm and welcoming to everyone. The food is always top class no matter what you choose off the menu. We always look forward to the next time we will be dining there.

User

It’s rapidly becoming s favourite restaurant of ours. The food is wonderful the attention to detail throughout the restaurant is magical and most importantly the staff who work so hard to make your visit truely memorable are excellent. Thank you again for this special lunch.

Hubby had heard good reviews so booked it for my birthday. Lovely welcome - we sat in the beautiful floral garden with our drinks and delicious olives etc. Lynn offered us blankets as it was windy but we were ok. We were shown to our table in the airy & beautifully- decorated dining room.

On to the meal...I had French onion soup, mmm lovely & hubby had scallops which he said were amazing. I had the veggie course to follow as I knew the soup would be filling but I still couldn't finish it, delicious as it was! Roge had the lamb & was in raptures. No room for dessert! Service was perfect- attentive but not overly so, & on the table was a birthday card for me!!

Definitely worth a visit for a special dining experience.

Best meal out I’ve had all year, lovely restaurant, very unique and brilliant service. Can’t wait to come back and eat that Duck again 🤤

User

Beautiful venue with great character and lovely touches giving it a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It is a family run business that is run with love and passion. It truly is a hidden gem. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome and comfortable. Pre dinner drinks by the fire, the service is timed to perfection and a delicious menu makes for a difficult choice! Can highly recommend the specials - We had 3 amazing courses, we will definitely be coming back as soon as we can!
