La Zouch Cellars

Met at door, I was the last in out of a group of 7. Then asked the waiter for a table to which I was told he couldn't do 7.

The restaurant was empty and he didn't explain or apologise. We left and stood outside whilst we watched the waiter return to a table, sit and drink coffee. They may well of been fully booked but without explanation we were left feeling as if we were not welcome or the right type of clientèle.

Thankfully found a lovely Thai restaurant (taste of Thai) just up the road who made us feel welcome and the food was great.

As my wife went shopping I was left alone in the place of my desires. I sat in a lovely wine shop with friendly staff in a big comfy old chair and an excellent South of France merlot, while reading about Ernest Hemingway sitting in restaurants and cafes in Paris. An excellent way to spend the afternoon! I couldn't recommend La Zouch Cellars more.

We didn't eat there, as we discovered the place after dinner... Just visited the 'cellar' (which extends to the first floor!) -- and what a great time we had! The owners were excellent company, knowledgeable, and they have a *huge* range of wines, whiskies, gins and so on. Not only that, but they know where, when and how of pretty much everything they sell.
Basically the visit was the crown for our visit to the town, we left with a few goodies too!

Next time we'll definitely know where to go to have dinner, in the meantime, for any enthusiast of fine wines, this is definitely the place to go in town.

Lovely family run restaurant with good choice on menu and an amazing range of drinks well worth a visit. Watch out for tsting nights and events

Meeting with family from Yorkshire (us from Berkshire), this turned out to be a brilliant choice for a Sunday lunch together. We had a room to ourselves, with a table decorated for Christmas, complete with crackers. None of this was requested by us, just the thoughtfulness of the owners, Lynne & Geoff. The food was excellent, the service great and the cost much less than expected. We expect to be returning here.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff who couldn't do enough to help or search for a special gin! Great coffee too!

Poor attitude when we complained about a poor bottle of wine which was expensive. Not even offered a free coffee!
